BOOK LIGHTS: from The Divine Matrix: Bridging Time, Space, Miracles, and Belief by Gregg Braden

Produced under the rigid control of laboratory conditions (perhaps for the first time), evidence arose of the powerful relationship that ancient traditions have held sacred for centuries. The DNA changed the behavior of the light particles – the essence of our world. Just as our most cherished traditions and spiritual texts have informed us for so long, the experiment validated that we have a direct effect on the world around us.

Gregg Braden

When Gregg Braden tells us about scientific experiments now documenting the impact that we humans, by our presence and our conscious observation, have on the world around us, then we need to accept our role in what is happening on the Planet. Our thoughts have power and effect. Be careful what you think for you are all-ways contributing to the collective consciousness!

MUSE-INGS: Control Your Thoughts and Contribute

How mindful are you of the thoughts that you are contributing to the collective consciousness of all humanity?

That whole concept seems to carry a heavy burden of responsibility for the evolutionary process. And, yet, it really speaks to what it means to be fully human, doesn’t it?

If we think about the human beings who have inhabited Planet Earth for thousands of years, we can understand how thinking has evolved over time. The enslavement of cultures was widespread at one time and then some forward thinkers started looking at assimilation, rather than conquering and destruction, as a way to advance civilization. Sadly, we still have some of those old thinkers suppressing others but there are millions more of us who are calling out conquering for what it is and who are, at the same time, moving forward in our evolution of consciousness.

Advances in science, mathematics, astronomy [look at what the Hubble Space Telescope has taught us!], medicine, technology, and many more fields of endeavor have shown us that humanity is constantly questing for greater understanding of our world and the cosmos we inhabit. We are learning beings, always asking the questions that lead us forward. Inventors will tell you that there are often dead ends but every attempt brings with it new understanding, even if that understanding points to what doesn’t work.

Humanity has been through some of those ‘dead end’ experiments, too. Some ideologies haven’t worked. Some have worked for a few people but not for the majority. I believe the concept of Democracy, called ‘The Great Experiment,’ was born from a sense that government needed to go through it’s own evolutionary process and perhaps it was time to try something that might contain benefit for the majority. We are still in the middle of this experiment.

But those at the forefront of the evolution of consciousness are leaping forward in quantum leaps these days. Philosophers may not be labeling themselves as such but they abound. With the internet we have all become philosophers, sharing our thoughts as if they were peer-reviewed and Truth with a capital ‘T.’

Every thought that we think becomes part of the collective consciousness just as every thought that is shared on facebook or twitter becomes a part of the collective conversation. Is there, perhaps, too much sharing without careful self-control and self-awareness? Could we become a collective of brainwashed individuals instead of humans advancing their consciousness in the direction of deeper understanding of self and cosmos?

We are poised and ready to move forward as the human race. It is time for each of us to claim our power to control our thoughts, to examine our beliefs and to join the other humans in advancing human consciousness. To do this we must start with ourselves and our own thought processes.

All of our efforts should be focused in the direction of growth in awareness. We have more enlightened ways to raise children than in the past. We can interact with others in immediate ways and so must be cautious about the impact of that interaction – no longer can a handwritten letter sit on the desk for further reflection since we now pour out our thoughts in an email that is sent instantaneously. We question and we quest. New understanding becomes available every day.

Make some decisions today about how you will approach your personal growth. So many are worried about money today and classes abound in ‘making more money’ or ‘getting more clients.’ But are you healthy in your own thoughts about money? Have you worked to clear limiting beliefs?

People seem to be drifting away from religion but not finding the spiritual support they seek. Are you focusing on one aspect of your life and not all? Spiritual mentoring is not the same as coaching. I’m finding in my practice that the coaching part FOLLOWS the spiritual work, the personal growth work, the processing of thoughts and beliefs.

This is the advancement of human consciousness that is called for in these times. Do the work and you will be rewarded. It doesn’t work the other way around.

BOOK LIGHTS: from “The New Brain: How the Modern Age is Rewiring Your Mind” by Richard Restak, M.D.

…intelligence is plastic and modifiable. All of our experiences result in the formation of neuronal circuits. The richer, more varied, and more challenging the experiences, the more elaborate the neuronal circuits…the brain’s capacity for change – its plasticity – remains vigorous throughout our lives.

Richard Restak, M.D.

So maybe you CAN teach an old dog new tricks! Every challenging conversation we have is carving new neural pathways in our brain. And every time we repeat an experience we deepen the hold that pathway has on us. Maybe it’s time to opt for ‘the more elaborate’ neuronal circuits and check in on the deepened pathways to make sure we want to keep them entrenched. Discussions that allow us to explore give us the option to create the new space in our brain for more elaborate, sophisticated understandings of human consciousness. I think I’ll keep growing ‘elaborate-ly’!

Muse-ings: Engage as an Explorer

It’s interesting to me that in the same message we are asked to get off our couches and go out to meet people and, while there, to engage them in discussions about ideas. I guess that means we are supposed to be having conversations that are deeper than the weather and the latest movie we’ve seen.

Do you have an avenue for those deeper conversations? Do you have a circle of friends with whom you can let down your hair and explore ideas or are your interactions about everyday affairs (or the affairs the neighbors or having), the kids, the price of gas, etc. and then you go back to your own couch? Maybe there’s something really profound in this message to ‘reach out.’

How do you explore ideas for yourself? Are you so wrapped up in your own everyday life that it’s difficult to find time to think about something beyond what you have to deal with today? Is there anyone with whom you feel you can safely explore an idea without being judged or ridiculed as you explore? Maybe it’s time to deepen our human relationships so that we CAN expand our consciousness.

In Colorado Springs we started a Spiritual Exploration Group that met once a month to discuss interesting topics, chosen by the members. Guests were welcomed but there was one rule: This group met to discuss ideas, not to judge them or to criticize or to convince someone else to believe the same way. We dubbed this rule the ‘Discussion not Dogma Rule.’ And we had some fascinating discussions! The topics ranged from angels and other spirit beings to numerology to the possibility of extraterrestrial life to parallel universes to the elements of time. It was a delight to join with one or two dozen others every month for a wonderful meal at our favorite Indian restaurant and engage in these deep discussions. The owners of the restaurant often sat with us to participate as they, too, found the topics fascinating.

Can you do something like this in your area? Do you know a few people who might like to get together for dinner occasionally and have a discussion group?

We’ll be restarting the Spiritual Exploration Group in the Annapolis, Maryland area soon and will also be doing this online as a video conference so that distant people can join in the discussion. How can you participate in ‘idea exploration’ with rules that make it safe to bring up anything you’re thinking about without worrying what others will think or say? Maybe your group starts with you and one trusted friend, but that’s okay.

The time is here for humanity to grow in consciousness. We cannot sit idly by and let others decide what the human consciousness level in the 21st Century will be simply because we choose not to engage in the discussions that are necessary. If we allow the discussions to take place without us we are abdicating our right to contribute to the expansion of consciousness which is a part of our Soul Purpose in being alive on Planet Earth in these times.

We have both a right and a responsibility to engage in the discourse, to explore ideas, to reach into the depths and allow our own consciousness to grow and expand. This is what being fully human in the 21st Century calls us to do. And, in the process, we become the expanded human being we are meant to BE.

Engage. Explore. Expand.

Come exploring with us. And remember that the conversations need to be ‘Discussion not Dogma’!

Please feel free to re-post this article and share it with your readers and followers. All I ask is that you include the following information when you do:

BOOK LIGHTS: from : “The Soul of Money: Reclaiming the Wealth of Our Inner Resources” by Lynne Twist

It could be said that a great fund-raiser is a broker for the sacred energy of money, helping people use the money that flows through their lives in the most useful way that is consistent with their aspirations and hopes for humanity…It could be said that each of us has the opportunity in our own lives to steward the flow of money; whatever level comes our way.

Lynne Twist

Creating a ‘right relationship’ with money allows us to use money to make things happen in the world. Each of us does not have to tackle the problems of the world in isolation because now we can easily join with others to contribute resources – time, talents and treasure – toward moving humanity along on its evolutionary path. Allowing money to flow through our lives and into helping projects makes an energetic space for more money to flow to & through us. The operative word is ‘flow.’

MUSE-INGS: Money: Merely a Medium of Exchange

Money, money, money. How many thoughts a day do you have about money? About making it, spending it, having it, not having it, giving it, taking it, who owes you, to whom you owe money. Kids are willing to do chores to get the money they need to buy their next toy. Spouses fight about how to spend or not spend their money. Businesses agonize over the ledger books and how to increase profits. Family members resent each other because of imbalances in money exchanges. Friends lend money then resent the loan.

The list is almost endless if we move up to situations about money in other levels of society. But, really, what IS money and why do we give it such a high place in our thoughts, relationships and lives?

I believe that we are social beings at our hearts and we really want to coexist with our fellow human beings. Where would any one human be without millions of others around the planet who are acting to support that one human being? Think about that. No one exists in a vacuum devoid of the impact of other human beings.

We just ate dinner in a restaurant. In addition to the servers and hosts, there were busboys and chefs and cooks and dishwashers and bookkeepers, etc. who contributed to our meal. There were farmers who grew the food and farm workers who harvested it and truck drivers who moved it and warehouse workers who stored it. The list is amazingly long and that is the number of human beings involved in supporting our eating one meal out.

Now think about the people involved in bringing to you every item that lives in your home. The food, the dishes, the soap, the furniture, and this list is tremendously long as well. If you go to work outside your home, you travel on roads and/or public transportation provided by other workers. Your home is protected by police officers and firefighters and there are paramedics standing by if you become ill. There is a traffic guard and a school bus driver to get your kids to school.

Imagine what your life would be like if these people were not around you supporting you in living your life the way you desire. You do not live without other human beings who, in every minute, are supporting your lifestyle, directly or indirectly. Money does not define these relationships, but our societies are expecting monetary exchanges for goods and services provided.

This is where you must be careful about your perspective on the exchange of money with others. Do you resent giving money to someone who provides a service to you? Do you object to paying the doctor who removes the tumour from your body? The value of what you have received determines how you feel about the monetary exchange, but often people who have not yet created a healthy relationship with money hand it over reluctantly instead of joyously giving money into the flow of the exchange that helps everyone to live in that flow.

If you shift your thoughts about money to seeing it as merely a medium of exchange instead of a defining feature of your worth and your life, you will see that there are many other things whose value is much higher than money. Holding a new baby has nothing to do with money. Seeing someone smile because you helped them has nothing to do with money. Loving a partner can be a spiritual experience and money has nothing to do with that.

This list, too, is tremendously long. Listen to some music and enjoy the gift. Share a smile with a friend. Play a game with a child. Choose to do something that has no money involved in it and see how valuable that can be. Disconnect yourself from worries over the economy or the bank account or the cost of something and allow yourself to enjoy what is not connected to money. Connect with people instead and notice that the web that is woven among people does not have to be based on money.

Let your Light shine.

And, funny thing, money can flow when you aren’t even looking for it.

BOOK LIGHTS: from “Touching Peace: practicing the art of mindful living” by Thich Nhat Hanh

We know that when we have peace and joy in ourselves, our peace and joy vibrate throughout the cosmos. So when we have hatred and anger in ourselves, they too will rebound to all quarters.

Thich Nhat Hanh

Our feelings are not just ours – they ‘vibrate through the cosmos.’ So notice how you are feeling and notice what you are vibrating through the cosmos. Maybe you don’t have to choose hatred and anger…

MUSE-INGS: What the World Needs Now is Love, Sweet Love

It’s difficult to discuss ‘hatred’ because I really don’t like to feel the energy of that word. I learned long ago to remove it from my vocabulary because it has a damaging effect on one’s liver just to speak it. I don’t ‘hate’ mushrooms but I choose not to eat them. If I’m having a bad hair day, I don’t ‘hate’ my hair.

So it is interesting that this message uses the word and energy so often. What is the meaning? What’s the point?

I think the energy of hatred is all around us and we need to raise our consciousness of the effects of living with that energy non-stop. We probably don’t even hear the word anymore with the sensitivity it deserves. And there are those who speak of that energy without ever using the word so we really have to lift our awareness into understanding that ‘hatred’ is what is meant by the language.

There are so many groups today who work for separation into ‘us’ and ‘them.’ They ‘other-ize’ groups that are different and somehow that makes the other lesser beings. Really? Is that being an evolving human being? Since when has a different religious belief meant that the other person is a lesser being?

Since there have been religions, I suppose. When I hear people spout political beliefs as if they have all the answers and anyone who disagrees with them is evil [yes, I’ve heard that] then I understand that demonizing the other has become a national, and maybe international, pastime.

The polite way to discuss politics is to talk about ‘negative ads’ but isn’t that a euphemism for spewing hatred? Or, if not spewing, then inciting? What have we come to as a human race if this is the behavior that we condone?

My dream is that human beings will find a way to cooperate rather than compete, to see that the good of the many includes the good of the individuals, and to raise young people to want to help others, not hurt or destroy them. Is that too much to ask?

I believe that human beings are capable of great things – great love, great art, great advances in understanding on many levels. What if the future held the possibility of a world where there was no hatred, no war, no ‘otherness’? What if the discovery of many other planets in the Universe caused us to join together as Earthlings and find a way to live together so that we could be a unified people in the Cosmos? How attractive does that sound to you?

We really are all one human being, the body of humanity living and breathing with many sets of lungs and many hearts and heads, but we are all connected in this many-membered organism. The sooner we learn and accept this the less ‘otherness’ will play in our lives. If we understand and feel our connection to all others perhaps we will not need to legislate against a group whose beliefs differ from ours. Maybe we can stop killing over jealousy or anger or hatred. Maybe we can learn to live and let live despite differences.

Remember the song, ‘What the World Needs Now Is Love, Sweet Love’? How long ago was that song popular? Are things really that different today?

Go about your day today spreading love. Don’t listen to words of hatred but turn the conversation around. Catch yourself if you are speaking vitriol and stop it. Listen to your children to see if they have created a mindset of otherness, if they see themselves as better than those who are different. Many teenagers, in fact, probably most, see themselves as different and they just want to fit in with their peers. Yet there are too many teen suicides because they encounter hatred for their differences. Please stop the hatred now.

Let’s all commit to being 21st Century human beings who love. Let’s counteract those who would spread hatred by accepting those who are different. And let’s look for ways to settle differences that don’t involve bloodshed.

We want to give Mother Earth the balance that she craves.

BOOK LIGHTS: from “The Divine Matrix: Bridging Time, Space, Miracles, and Belief” by Gregg Braden

The implication of both quantum theory and the ancient texts is that in the unseen realms we create the blueprint for the relationships, careers, successes, and failures of the visible world. From this perspective, the Divine Matrix works like a great cosmic screen that allows us to see the nonphysical energy of our emotions and beliefs (our anger, hate and rage: as well as our love, compassion, and understanding) projected in the physical medium of life.

Gregg Braden

When we see that we project onto this ‘great cosmic screen’ our emotions and beliefs, we can own our power to direct the movie playing out on that screen. We are a part of the story of that movie and our participation is invited as we develop into the person we were born to be. Our role in that movie is our Life Purpose. Create that movie with confidence!

MUSE-INGS: Conscious Confidence for the Present Moment

Confidence can be such a difficult quality to develop. I can be confident in my ability to create a delicious dinner and yet lack the confidence required to get up on a horse and ride a trail. You might be confident in a one-on-one conversation and yet lack the confidence to feel comfortable speaking in front of 1,000-member audience. So what is the confidence we are feeling or not feeling?

When ‘confidence’ is really just an assurance that we are committed to living our Life Purpose in this lifetime on this Planet Earth, then we can relax and our only work is this commitment. Whew! That takes the heat off of us, doesn’t it? I mean, what if I know I am being the person I was born to BE, even if I’m not the best or most accomplished or most experienced at something I am trying to DO? Isn’t that the consciousness that we need to develop? Isn’t that how we can learn to feel confident?

I learned a long time ago that showing up to the present moment is the most important aspect of feeling confident. Even if I feel nervous or tentative about attempting something, I can gain confidence from the knowledge that I am doing the best I can and I can trust that everything will work out as it should. This comes from trusting in the unfolding plan of the Universe.

Trust is the key word here. Do you trust that the Universe has a plan that is unfolding as it should? Do you trust that you have a part in that plan and that your intuition is your connection to it? Have you learned to trust your intuition?

Each of us has a role to play in the story of the Earth as it is developing around us. The people around us are all players in the same story, whether we or they know it or not. Your soul agreed with mine before we were born that we would ‘play’ in this sandbox called Earth at the same time in some way. I trust that this agreement holds and that I am doing my best to fulfill my part. I commit to living the Life Purpose my soul told yours I would live before we started this time on Earth. By raising my own consciousness I’ve become aware of the greater plan and it’s unfolding on Earth in these days.

Are you working to expand your awareness of the great development called Human Evolution? This is about the evolution of consciousness, not about growing beyond tails and webbed feet! Personal growth work becomes the avenue to expanded consciousness and, thus, a commitment to your own personal growth benefits all of humanity.

And confidence comes from knowing that this grand scheme of ever-evolving consciousness includes you and who you are becoming at each step of the way. Trust that you are okay, that you are doing the best you can. Trust that your own intuition and inner guidance are leading you in the path of conscious evolution. Be confident in sharing who you are, right now, in this moment, with others, for that is the soul agreement that you entered into with them before birth. They and you agreed that you would be just that, the ‘who’ you came here to be, and that that was just enough for them in this moment.

Congratulations! Go confidently into your next moments!
