BOOK LIGHTS: from “The Divine Matrix: Bridging Time, Space, Miracles, and Belief” by Gregg Braden

In words that brought a new meaning to our perception of time, Einstein described its mysterious nature by simply stating the obvious: “The distinction between past, present, and future is only a stubbornly persistent illusion.”

Gregg Braden

If the past and the future co-exist with us in this present moment, then maybe our ancestors and our future selves, including our children and grandchildren, have messages that are important for us to consider. Maybe, too, we have the power to change the direction of our path if we listen to all the wisdom available and hold the vision of our dreams in this present moment –which is shaping all of our future moments!

MUSE-INGS: Big Bands and the Evolution of Consciousness

Do you remember when you were a teenager and your parents complained about your music? I do!

My Dad played in a big band and I grew up listening to Glenn Miller and Tommy Dorsey. Then came folk music – Peter, Paul & Mary and The Kingston Trio. The Beatles and the British Invasion arrived next. The progression goes on. But my parents remembered when THEIR parents objected to the music they enjoyed in the 40s & 50s. I’m sure their parents shocked my great-grandparents with the Roaring Twenties music!

How easy it is to dismiss what is new. How easy it can be to dismiss the messenger who brings in the new. And, yet, isn’t each messenger wanting to be heard?

What is the new message coming to you? It might not even be from young people but the source might be your intuition, your own personal guidance system. Are you listening?

It’s easy to look outside ourselves and consider the source of information so that we can justify dismissing it. Sometimes it is more difficult to look inside to find and listen to the guidance that we find there. Do you honor your own inner guidance?

Maybe the way to start honoring intuition it to start listening to the messages from the young people. They might actually be more tuned in than we, the ‘old folks,’ are!

Now I’m not advocating having to listen to the music of the next couple of generations if you don’t like it, but really listen to that younger person’s view of the world.

When our daughter was starting in school she told a story about a little girl in her class and I tried to get her to describe the girl to me, although I knew it was an African-American girl in a mostly white student classroom. Mindy said, ‘You know her, Mommy, she’s the one with the braids!’ It never occurred to her to differentiate the little girl from herself by the difference in the color of skin. I was excited that, in the new generation, the person was not identified by race. What a change from my parents’ generation, with separate water fountains and different parts of the bus! The children were teaching us to let go of old notions of differences.

What can you learn today from the young people around you? Enjoy the exploration! Have a conversation with a young person where you really listen to them. Ask questions and honor them when they open up. They’re really pretty cool. [But don’t say that because that’s an old person’s term!]

Be willing to explore new ideas even if they come from someone younger. We oldsters know a lot, and the world can learn from our wisdom, but sometimes we see through fixed bifocals, with only our own perspective, not seeing all the possibilities that are present.

Be willing to evolve your own thoughts by considering new ideas before you dismiss them. Old and young alike are being called to help all of humanity to evolve. Don’t be the one who holds back human evolution. Contribute, by opening yourself to the possibility of changing how you think.

Your creative juices can flow when you consider ideas, but if you lock yourself behind the doors of your fixed opinions, you get stuck.

Stay in the flow. Be a part of the Consciousness Evolution!

BOOK LIGHTS: from “The Divine Matrix: Bridging Time, Space, Miracles, and Belief” by Gregg Braden

From the Native Americans of the 15th Century who learned to ‘see’ the anomalous pattern of foreign ships after their tribal healer discovered how to change his sight, to the populations in Israel and Lebanon in the 1980s who experienced peace after individuals trained in a special way to feel peace did so at prescribed times, relatively few people creating a new program in consciousness can make a huge difference in the outcome of our collective reality. The key is that someone must do it first.

Gregg Braden

Will you be the first to see something new and to, thus, participate in the evolution of human consciousness? It changes our ‘collective reality’!

MUSE-INGS: How evolutionary are you?

Everything around us seems to be changing, at a far more rapid pace than ever before in human history. I think of my Dad who was born in 1908 and died in 1983. Imagine the changes in his lifetime!

And since his passing, almost 30 years ago, we now have so many instant communication devices that we can barely take a breath without being contacted by another human being. As I write this, Outlook keeps telling me “you’ve got mail!” (ok, not in that old aol voice!) and my iPhone is chiming to let me know I’ve received another text. I can email with people all over the world. My clients are on different continents and we can ‘see’ each other via our videoconference sessions as if we are sitting across the table from each other. We are really connecting through space and time in ways my Dad couldn’t even imagine.

And, yet, are we still Neanderthal’s in our thinking? Have we evolved our consciousness so that we bring new perspectives to activities and behaviors and thoughts in our lives?

I see the nature of ‘mine’ sometimes throwing itself into the mix without a concern for other people or the impact of actions on the community around. There seem to be many conflicted people who cannot find a place within their thoughts and beliefs for the union of individualism with community. We are individuals who live in community with other individuals.

This is the point where human consciousness is inviting us to find a new awareness of these concepts, to move from the either/or thinking of ‘mine’ vs. ‘ours.’ There is a place, in 21st Century thought, for ‘mine’ AND ‘ours.’

In what other areas are you seeing your thoughts or beliefs living in a previous century? Have you carefully examined the thoughts and beliefs that are guiding you through your 21st Century life? If you would live a Conscious Life, then you MUST do the work to choose the thoughts and beliefs that will determine how you live today.

‘Sleepwalking through history’ is not an option for the spiritual student or for the human who chooses to be a part of the evolution of human consciousness. That is what those who have made the choice to avoid evolving are doing – sleepwalking. They think that they are alive but they have shut down the very part of themselves that is fully human and seeking growth.

Constantly assess your thoughts as you go about your day. Am I thinking with consciousness about what I am choosing or am I ‘sleepwalking’? Ask yourself, “Is this thought coming from me or from an old tape created by someone in the past? Is my belief based on 21st Century consciousness or is it coming from something hundreds of years ago that I must understand in a new light?”

If you truly examine your own consciousness then you can choose to assist all of humanity in its evolutionary process.

Choose to evolve beyond Neanderthal thinking. It’s the 21st Century. Your very humanity is calling you to evolve, to move beyond the unconsciousness of ‘sleepwalking.’ Make the choice today. And examine those thoughts and beliefs, especially the unconscious ones, so that you can bring yourself up to date with the evolution of human consciousness in the 21st Century.

My Dad would be excited to be a part of this evolution today!

BOOK LIGHTS: from “Beauty, Health and Happiness: A Way of Life” by Lily

Everything you love is beautiful. So love yourself. Beauty is an attitude; love is beautiful; displays of kindness are beautiful.

Lily

Beauty begins with loving yourself. When you love and accept yourself you can love and accept others. Then both of you will be beautiful!

MUSE-INGS: Choose Beauty

Do you judge yourself to be beautiful or not?

And why do we need to judge ourselves?

It’s funny, isn’t it?, that we allow the outside world to tell us what is beautiful and we can’t ever measure up to it. Even the fashion models that society says are beautiful claim THEY aren’t that beautiful if they are not manipulated by airbrushes and PhotoShop to look as they do in the ads.

I wonder when we stopped looking for beauty within ourselves and projected the search into the mirror. Have people always defined beauty this way?

When my husband and I took a vacation to Mexico several years ago, we stayed at a European resort where there was only one other American family. The rest of the guests were from Europe where their definition of beauty seemed to come from someplace other than the fashion magazines from the US. On the beaches we saw women of all ages enjoying the sunshine with their families at complete ease with their bodies, no matter what their age or dress size was! What a concept! We Americans are so uptight about how we look that we forget to be comfortable in our own skin.

I decided then that beauty is an inside job. Of course I had always heard about not judging people on their looks and I did look at the person inside. But could I apply that to myself? Could I see myself as beautiful no matter what the mirror said? And how could I project a beautiful face if I was worried about how I looked?

Now we are being guided to allow the energy of acceptance and love to decide how our face projects beauty.

Practice looking in a mirror and changing your thoughts then noticing how your face reflects those thoughts. If you think, as you go through your day, about what your face is telling the world about how you feel, you might start making different choices about hanging on to feelings that are not representing the beauty you wish to present outwardly.

Think about how we smile and coo at a cute, innocent little baby. Then think how pinched we get when we are ticked off at a circumstance or another person. Your face is reflecting this energy.

Now think about how the Dalai Lama is always smiling. He has a lot to be angry about, but he chooses happiness.

Our qigong instructor teaches about the ‘feeling state of the Divine.’ She has great access to this state and is always chuckling, like the Dalai Lama. They know something about beauty!

Commit to being beautiful today! Think thoughts of love and acceptance. Start with loving and accepting yourself. Then stay in that energy as much as you can. If you feel your face pinching up, look for the peace and love that will transform you. If you feel yourself sitting with anger or hatred, look for the energies that will put a smile on your face.

You are always at choice when it comes to which feelings you will hang onto and which you will let go of. Make the choice to BE BEAUTY in the world!

BOOK LIGHTS: from “A New Earth: Awakening to Your Life’s Purpose” by Eckhart Tolle

How do you go beyond a dysfunctional relationship with the present moment? The most important thing is to see it in yourself, in your thoughts and actions. In the moment of seeing, of noticing that your relationship with the Now is dysfunctional, you are present. The seeing is the arising Presence. The moment you see the dysfunction, it begins to dissolve. Some people laugh out loud when they see this. With the seeing comes the power of choice—the choice of saying yes to the Now, of making it into your friend.

Eckhart Tolle

Learning to make the NOW into your friend gives you great power in your life – the power of choice. In every moment you are at choice: to believe, to think, to act. Use the power you have to make the choices that support your personal growth!

MUSE-INGS: Every NOW is a Powerful Place for You to Be!!!

Your true power comes from within you but too often we look outside for approval in order to feel our power. And we also find ourselves giving away our power to others – other people, other circumstances, other times.

Say this with me now – “I claim ALL of my power NOW!”

Some of you might be laughing or doubting or, sadly, crying. But I want you to feel your own power right now in this present moment.

You might think that you aren’t feeling very powerful, but that could be because your definition of ‘power’ is linked to the old model of ‘power over another.’ That is no longer what ‘power’ means! Your inner power has nothing to do with other people or circumstances or times. Your inner power derives from YOU being YOU! And the best way to access that inner power is to bring all your awareness, your consciousness, into the present moment so that you have all your energy available to you in the NOW.

Sometimes I wonder why this is not as easy as it sounds. But I realize that our minds are such fantastic computers, always calculating what might happen and what we’ve learned from what has happened, that it takes a special effort to bring our conscious thoughts into the present moment.

The gift of a great mind is the ability to transcend time. And the gift of a great consciousness is to be able to access fully this present moment in time.

Imagine that you can bring all your awareness into this moment NOW and to fully focus in the NOW in which you are existing. This is powerful stuff!

In classes, I sometimes ask for a volunteer to stand with me and concentrate fully on some problem they are having outside the class and really use their mind to focus on that problem. I can touch them with my finger and push them off balance! [I never let them fall, of course!] Then I ask them to bring their attention fully to their power center, the Third Chakra, the Dan Tien, that energy center that is the seat of your personal energy in your body. Holding attention here, focusing fully on the body’s power center, located a few inches below the navel, gives such stability and power that no matter how hard I push I cannot get the volunteer to move. It’s a dramatic demonstration of bring your consciousness into the present moment so that you can access all of your power!

Try this exercise yourself and see how it feels to bring your attention to your power center and to focus your attention in the NOW. Breathe. Then move into your next activity. Come from your own inner power. Move through your day taking time to focus in the NOW.

And if you need practice, try meditation. Sometimes people have a lot of trouble with meditation and I hear complaints that they can’t still their minds enough. I believe that meditation can be practiced without having to fight your mind’s tendency to think. Allow yourself to practice being fully present to this moment NOW and don’t worry about the thoughts that come. Also, don’t attach to those thoughts and feel you must ‘think them through.’ Allow them to drift by like the clouds in the sky and bring your attention back to the NOW.

NOW is all we have. Enjoy this NOW and let go of the past and the future. Happy NOW!

MUSE-INGS: The ‘Consciousness Relationship’ and You

Exploring ideas has always been a fascination of mine. Whether it is a mundane matter or a lofty abstract concept, I can get lost in the exploration.

In college, as a math major, I was assigned a paper to write on ‘infinity.’ What a concept! I explored and explored and asked for an extension because I became so absorbed in the exploration. I shared my ideas with classmates, professors, the priests (who were, blessedly, very open-minded when I talked about consciousness with them!). How exciting it was to have the space in which to question and explore ideas!

How different I might be if I had not been supported in being the explorer of ideas that I was as a college student! How different someone around you might be if you do not allow them to be explorers, secure in the knowledge that you will share the exploration with them without judging or condemning or trying to get them to see your point of view!

We are all called to be in relationship to all others. Perhaps the ‘Consciousness Relationship’ is one of the most important.

The level of consciousness in which one operates, or, which one has attained, influences how one lives one’s life. It is easy to see that the people who walk around with their inner eyes closed are living a very different life from those whose eyes have been opened and who are explorers of ideas.

Do you realize that you can choose to find others who live at the same level of consciousness or a higher one?

This is not about judging people but it does include the discernment to notice when you feel that you are being accepted as an explorer or judged harshly for not being a part of the crowd. What groups have you joined where you feel that you can be yourself and explore ideas without worrying about judgment? In which groups do you feel that you must be extremely careful about what you say lest you create a backlash that stops the creative exploration of ideas until you agree with the others?

Discern how you feel, without judging where others are on their individual paths. Find the group of people who support your exploration of ideas. Like-mindedness is not the same as closed-mindedness. I like to think of the groups of like-minded folks that I hang out with as being those most open to exploration. Fanatics and fundamentalists of any shape can be closed to the possibilities that are before them.

And a lot of people who are closed-minded are merely stuck in their own emotional ‘stuff.’ It can be sad to see someone who is in a stuck place and rather than exploring options for moving beyond their ‘stuck-ness’ choose to hide within that stuck place. When the time is right, however, they will have opportunities to explore possibilities. When they are ready, there will be teachers available and they will either reach out or not.

When YOU are an explorer, you model for others the possibilities that are before them. When YOU are available as a teacher, someone who has been stuck has the possibility of becoming an explorer.

Be an explorer of ideas and hold out a hand to help others. This is a group activity! And each of us has a responsibility to the evolution of human consciousness to be that explorer of ideas!

Understand that all thought that you give toward that which you want furthers the creation of it, and that the feeling of positive emotion indicates the speed of your creation.

Jerry & Esther Hicks

This quote from the Abraham material helps us to see how important it is to think and feel our desires into manifestation. ‘The feeling of positive emotion indicates the speed of your creation.’ Let’s speed things up!!!
