MUSE-INGS: What’s on Your Gratitude List?

Sometimes it’s difficult to access gratitude when we are feeling overwhelmed with our life or with our circumstances.  There seem to be a lot of us who are undergoing major changes and transitions in our lives.  Are you?

A friend of mine recommended this exercise to me:  Write out 100 things for which you are grateful and read the list every morning and every night.  This helps to focus your energy in gratitude instead of worry.  If you know anything about the Law of Attraction you know that you attract that on which you focus your attention.  If you are constantly worried then you are energizing and magnetizing the very thing you are worrying about, which is probably NOT what you want to have happen!

But if you go into a space of gratitude for what you do have then you energize more of that in your life.  ‘This or something better’ is the energy of attraction when you express and really get in touch with gratitude.  This is why affirmations work, because, when created properly, an affirmation is stated in the positive, in the present, and as if it is already reality so it is stated with gratitude.  When you send out this message of attraction the Universe arranges things to provide what you are focused on, or something better.

There are critics who do not hold that the Law of Attraction works but I believe differently.  Even when I didn’t know about the Law I could see that my thoughts were creating my reality.  Or did the thoughts create the lens through which I saw my reality?  Does it really matter?

Finding gratitude in the little things in your life will propel you forward into finding more things for which to feel gratitude.  Make up your list of 100 things and have fun with it.  Maybe ‘fun’ is on your list!  My list has things as prosaic as ‘My iPhone’ and as esoteric as ‘Seeing a Great Blue Heron, 2 foxes, a golden eagle and a coyote, all this week’ on it.  No matter what, there is always something to be grateful for.

I remember my beloved Aunt Margaret on her last day of life.  My family had been on vacation when we learned that she was unwell and not expected to last very much longer.  We hurried to her bedside and she had waited to see us to say goodbye.  After we left her a nurse came in and offered to get her whatever she wanted.  My aunt asked for a ginger ale and told the nurse where to find some money for the nursing home soft drink machine.  The sweet nurse said, ‘Don’t worry.  This is my treat.’  And my aunt’s response was,  ‘Thank you.  In my condition tonight I’ll accept your treat.’  She died a few hours later.

We can choose to be in gratitude or we can choose to find something to get upset about.  We can be sweet to other people or we can be mean to them.  We can create affirmations from gratitude or desires from greed.  All of Life is about choice.   Oh, maybe not about consciously choosing everything that happens but certainly about choosing what our response will be.  When we start each day in gratitude, our choices will come from an expanded awareness of how our lives are unfolding.  This expansion guides us to better choices throughout that day.

Dear Ones,

What are you feeling grateful for today?  How often do you allow yourself to stay in the energy of gratitude?

Many people say ‘thank you’ without even getting in touch with the energy of gratitude but there is much to be said about allowing yourself the time to feel deep, true gratitude for Life.  No matter what is going on in your life YOU are NOT your circumstances!  There is always something for which you can feel grateful.

The Sun is still in the sky.  There are flowers to enjoy.  You are inhaling and exhaling as you read this.  Your heart has known joy and pain and still keeps pumping blood throughout your body.  The list goes on and on.  And when you create a space in your energetic being for gratitude to live then you can shift your perspective on everything else.

Remembering that there are lessons contained in every event, circumstance and relationship in your life, you will grow more swiftly when you stay in gratitude for those lessons, even the ones that are uncomfortable or painful.  There are people with whom you come into contact who bring you lessons, again, even the uncomfortable ones, and you can feel grateful for them.  Imagine how many other people for whom YOU have been the bearer of a lesson!  Be grateful for that, too.

As you move along the pathways of your Life Plan you are navigating uncharted territory, for there has never been nor will there ever be another You.  The entire Universe is grateful to you for showing up at this time in human history to fulfill your unique role in the unfolding of the Universe’s Plan.  Be grateful for the opportunity to contribute to the evolution of humanity.

Do you feel as if Life is passing you by or that the lessons are too painful to endure?  You are not alone but you are a person of courage, for only those spirits who have a great deal of courage have agreed to live on Planet Earth during these changing times.  Your spirit is indomitable.  You are brave and bold.  You created your own lesson plan before your spirit took on a human body.  And now you are about to graduate to a higher level of the expression of the greatness of humanity.  Go with the flow of this expression.  Do not allow yourself to sink into the troubles you perceive around you.  All is developing according to the Plan that the Universe has for Planet Earth in the 21st Century.  All is developing according to the Plan for your individual life, but you are not disconnected from all the other individuals so join in community with like-minded people to move through the coming changes.  Even Mother Earth is experiencing change in her climate.  And change in any form has the power to cause fear in those who lack courage.

But you, Dear One, do not lack courage.  You agreed to be on Planet Earth to assist her in moving through these changes.  You have a part to play in the unfolding of the Plan.

And the energy that will sustain you through the changes is the energy of Gratitude.  For when you feel and experience Gratitude you observe without sinking into despair, you tackle the tasks before you while you stay committed to your Life Purpose, and you share your life freely with others who are also on the path, welcoming their company as together you move forward.

Do not fear the coming changes.  Rather, be grateful that they are finally here.  The world will rejoice on the other side of these changes for you will be reunited with the other spirits who agreed to share this time with you.

And so it is.

MUSE-INGS: Create the Day You Would Like to Have!

Quite frankly, I’m tired.  It’s been a very busy couple of weeks. I have a lot to do.  Sometimes I long for unconsciousness [or maybe it’s just that I long for sleep!].  But there is always a connection to be made when you are conscious of the need that all humans have for connectedness.

I recently bought some cosmetics at a department store and ended up having a delightful time chatting with 3 of the women who worked at the counter.  At dinner with a couple of friends, one of whom had her dog with her, the waiter got talking to us about his pets and how they had contacted him after their passing. [I had told him that I am a medium and that I often give people messages from their pets who have passed on.]  These connections were great fun and brought a smile to my face that answered the smiles of the other people.

It’s so easy to wake up every morning with the to-do list on your mind.  Or, worse, to start immediately addressing the problems that you have to solve that day.  It’s easy to jump immediately into your day without setting an intention and, yet, that is the most creative energy of your day.

You don’t have to wake up and compose a concerto but you can use those first waking moments of the day to create the day you would like to have.  If you set yourself in a grateful, giving, curious energy before you even get out of bed then whatever happens to you that day will be merely a lesson to be learned.

Tomorrow morning, wake up and tell yourself that you can gracefully handle anything that life throws at you!  Wake up and think about someone you can help.  Wake up and smile with gratitude for something in your life.  Then go out there and make it the best day ever!

THIS WEEK’S MYSTIC MESSAGE from The Divine Feminine: “How to have a good day – smile for no reason!”

Dear Ones,

We are ready to give you a little nudge to move you in the direction of Conscious Living.  How conscious do you feel you are these days?  Are there blind spots in your focus?  Are you extending your consciousness into all areas of your life or are you only being aware in certain circumstances?

Now is not the time to play the ostrich.  You cannot bury your head in the sand and expect to live fully on Planet Earth at this time.  The Mother is asking you, begging you to participate.

Every day invites you to recommit to living a Conscious Life.  Every morning, before your feet even hit the floor, start the energy of gratitude flowing in your heart.  Be grateful that your mind is intact and that you are opening your eyes.  Think of something, no matter how small or large, that you can use to really ramp up the gratitude in your heart.  Focus on that energy for a few minutes.  Then watch it grow until it encompasses you and the coming day.

Only then do you open your eyes, so that you see through the energy of gratitude when you look at every event and situation in your day.  Create a smiling face, whether you feel like smiling or not, because that energy will magnetically attract smiles to you.  Think of something that you can do for others today and allow that energy of giving to flow through and in you.  Think of someone you love and tell them so as soon as you are able.

Then put your feet on the floor.  If you have ramped up your energy like this before you even get out of bed then you will have a good day.  Notice that we didn’t say that everything will go your way, because that is not the definition of a ‘good day.’  But no matter what happens, if you have gratitude and generosity flowing in your heart on any given day, then there is nothing that can be thrown at you that you cannot handle, that you cannot learn from.

Try smiling for no reason.  Smile at the person pumping gas next to you.  Smile at that grumpy person in the store.  Smile at the person that you work with who seems to always be in a bad mood.  Just smile.  Watch how magnetic that smile can be.

Start the day this way and commit to yourself that you are going to be conscious throughout the day of your thoughts and actions.  Are you choosing to act from your authentic self?  Are you being conscious of your choices?

Start the day with a smile of gratitude and then be aware of every choice throughout the day.  You’ll go to bed with a smile on your face that night!

Dear Ones,

Do you have sadness in your life at this time?  Are you feeling sad or do you know someone who is sad?  We would have you examine sadness in your life for the lessons contained there.

There are many reasons that a person feels sad and identifying a source of sadness is important in learning what the lessons are.  Are you sad because a friend is ill or dying?  Are you sad because things are not working out the way you had wanted?  Might you be feeling sad because you have lost something or someone?

Sadness usually accompanies the grief of a loss in one’s life – the loss of a friendship, a job, a financial situation, or a dream.  Most often the loss is the loss of what might have been.  Have you lost a pet recently?  Pets are the models for humans of unconditional love.  When one loses a pet one loses unconditional love that might have been there for that pet owner.  Has a relationship ended – through divorce or death or a parting of the ways?  Have you moved to a new home and lost the connections, the familiarity that you once had?

Think of sadness and loss and grief in your life as doorways to personal growth.  When you lose something that you value you are given a chance to move through a doorway into something new.  If you are feeling sad because you feel lack or a feeling of ‘if only things were different’ then look around you to see ways in which you are missing what IS present in that moment.  Sadness can sometimes take you away from gratitude for what is available to you but sadness should never be ignored.

Western culture sometimes does not allow people to sufficiently experience their grief, their sadness about a loss.  When someone dies, the workplace often expects a person to ‘buck up’, grieve for 3 days, and then return to work as if their loved one hadn’t just departed.  Human feelings go beyond the 3 day window allotted to them.  Grief is not something that can be expunged because society is uncomfortable with it.  Sadness is not weakness.  These feelings are very real, and very important to one who is on a path of personal growth.

Allowing yourself to feel your feelings, to be in touch with what is truly going on inside you, allows you to make informed choices about your life.  If you try to choose only those feelings that are socially acceptable you do yourself and your journey of personal growth a disservice.  Right now, in this moment, give yourself permission to feel what it is that you are feeling.  Can you get in touch with your inner self enough to know what you feel?  This is an important exercise in growth.

Women and men who decide on a public persona, carefully crafted to project a certain image, may be doing a disservice to themselves by sometimes denying their feelings and refusing to examine those feelings for the lessons that are there.  Is this how you operate?

Feel what you are feeling and stay with that feeling until it reveals to you what you can learn from it.  Are you feeling grief about a loss?  Stay with that feeling of grief so that you can move into the energy and then, ultimately, through it.  Are you sad?  Are you angry?  Are you frustrated?  Are you feeling something that the world around you is uncomfortable with?  Then find a way to process that emotion so that you can learn from it.

Journal.  Meditate.  Speak with someone else about it like a friend, confidant, counselor.  Write a letter to yourself from that feeling.  What does the feeling want you to know?  You might want to create a ritual around your feelings so that you can preserve the learnings while letting go of the necessity of holding onto or stuffing/hiding those feelings.

Allow whatever you are feeling to be a teacher for you.  When you have learned the lesson you will no longer need to hold onto the feeling.  Now is the time to do the work to feel the feeling and grow from it!

And so it is.

Dear Ones,

Life is to be lived with great gusto! Where is your enthusiasm for your life? Are you starting and ending each day with gratitude for your blessings or are you focusing on what is not working for you or on what you lack? It is difficult to find the gusto if you can only see what is missing in your life.

Every breath that you take is a miracle of Life. You are living on Planet Earth at this very moment because your Soul chooses to have you experience this time, the place you are standing and the people around you in this present moment. How wonderful it is that you are even able to receive these words!

Give yourself permission to enjoy your next inhalation. Focus on your breath for a moment. In. Out. In again. Out again. Be grateful that you can breathe. Think of all those around you who are also breathing and be grateful that they are in your life. Even those with whom you are not well pleased are in your life so that they might help you to learn lessons so be grateful for the opportunity to learn.

Look around you today with a sense of wonder, of curiosity, with gratitude for everything that is around you. Smile, for your smile will raise the vibration of the air around you and will bring a higher vibration energy to all those who see you smile. Ask yourself what you can do to keep yourself comfortable while raising your vibration and sharing that higher frequency with the world. You might find that you are moving beyond your so-called ‘comfort zone’ to do this but you will quickly become more comfortable with a higher frequency energy and this will catapult you into higher and higher levels of satisfaction with your life.

Does this make sense to you? Lifting your vibrational level brings you more satisfaction with your life. Your life doesn’t have to change to be more satisfying – you do. And once you realize that this is true you will have more control over your life. Change how you see the world around you. Are you sorting for what is wrong or are you enjoying what is simply there? Are you focusing on lack or are you reveling in the gifts that abound? It is all about your perception of reality, for you create your reality with your attitude toward your life. Even if facts and data don’t change you can change your feelings, your attitudes and your perceptions.

Start by noticing your language. Are you celebrating with excitement what is in your life in this moment or are you allowing your thoughts to carry you away from the celebration that is available to you? How are you speaking about this moment? When you become aware of your language you can easily change what you are saying so that you language what you wish to feel. The half-empty glass can make you feel less celebratory than the half-full glass, so make a decision right now that you will see the glass as half-full.

Speak of higher vibration thoughts when you talk to others and you can help them to feel more excitement, too. Focus on The Light in the World, not on the darkness. Focus on what is beautiful and exciting and wonder-full in the world and your energy will be infectious. It is okay to infect others with enthusiasm and this happens naturally when you are living your life with gusto!

THIS WEEK’S MYSTIC MESSAGE from The Divine Feminine: Practice playing the “At least…” game!

Dear Ones,

Today is the day that you can start a new life.  Every day is one in which you can begin anew.  Whatever was bothering you yesterday is in the past – make new choices today.

Do you feel that way when you wake up in the morning?  If you start your day focused on what is wrong with your life or what you don’t have, then you are gathering in the stale energy of yesterday and coloring your day with that staleness.  Train yourself to have as a first thought each morning that you have much to be grateful for in your life.  Think of something that makes you smile.  Look at your new day through the lens of gratitude that you woke up!

Too many people are stuck in the ruts of their own making, lamenting the fact that life is so hard for them.  They are choosing to be victims when there is no success that blossoms out of victimhood.  If this describes how you have been in the past, make a decision to choose differently tomorrow when you wake up.  You do not have to be the victim of the circumstances of your life, but you do have to be conscious that you are constantly making choices.  If you feel put upon or filled with suffering then you are missing what is good around you and in you.  Find one thing, that’s all it takes.  Find one thing for which you can be grateful.  It can be as simple as a friend or family member who loves you.  It can be a pet’s presence in your home.  It can be that you have food to eat for breakfast.  Find that one thing, and your whole day will be colored with The Light.

Model this behavior for others.  Find something positive no matter what is going on around you.  Start playing the ‘At least…’ game.  What can you find to say to contrast doom and gloom and victimhood when it feels as if you are surrounded by it?  ‘At least the sun came up this morning.’  ‘At least both of my feet are working as I step out of bed.’  ‘At least we’ll have a great story to tell our friends after this is all over.’

Teach your children the ‘At least…’ game.  Make it fun.  Play this with your friends.  See what you can find to say ‘At least…’ about.  This creates an amazing energy of looking for something good to be grateful for.  And Like Attracts Like.  If you put some energy into gratitude, you will attract more things to be grateful for.  If you can find something positive you will energize and attract more positive things into your life.

It’s never too late to change your ways.  Start with how you think about your day from the first moment you are awake.  Go to bed with gratitude for the day just ending and look forward to waking up to positive thoughts in the morning.  The more you practice this, the more you will want to live your life this way.  When you greet people with the smile on your face that this positive thinking will produce, you will find that they respond positively to you.  If they are grumpy then acknowledge that maybe they are having a bad day and allow them the space to be where they are.  That kind of response is not about you.  Be generous enough to give people their own energies, their own feelings.  But be sure that you do now allow yourself to be dragged into grumpiness because someone around you is having a bad day.  Maintain your positivity.

Keep a Positivity Journal.  Record positive thoughts – no complaints allowed!  You might have heard of a Gratitude Journal.  This goes beyond gratitude but certainly feeling gratitude is positive!  Use this journal when you are feeling low to boost your thoughts back into the higher vibration of positivity.  Don’t forget to be lighthearted – sometimes all it takes is a small chuckle and you can dispel negativity.  Try this for this week, and see how you feel after a week of being Positive!

And so it is.
