ROSEMARY’S EXPLORATION: Moving Forward

With each sunrise your new day, your new life, begins. Every morning is an opportunity to make new choices about the direction in which your life will lead. Do you consider this when you wake up?

Or do you start your day with complaints? About not enough sleep, or aches and pains, or a long to-do list?

At this time in human history, you are being asked to step into your power and your purpose and propel yourself forward in the direction of your dreams. Yes, it is your dream and your vision of your future that pull you into that future. You can move into that vision or you can choose to stay in your present, fighting against the energy to move forward.

Believe it or not, it takes more energy to stay stuck than it does to move forward. You must fight the strong current of the energy of the Universe that wants to support your forward movement if you would keep everything as it is. When you surrender to the forces that carry you forward on your personal journey you will find the fulfillment that we all seek.

Decide today that you will choose to move forward in your life. When you wake up tomorrow, start your day with the thought, ‘How can I take a step forward along my path? What can I do today that helps me to grow, to advance in my consciousness, to understand something I’ve struggled with before, or to live my purpose more fully?’

This first decision is the hardest part. It’s much easier to pull the covers over your head and go back to sleep, literally or figuratively. But now is not the time to sleep. It is the time to awaken to the wonderful opportunities that abound in front of you.

This is not the time to look at the past and judge yourself harshly for not doing/doing something in the past. Today is a new day. Give yourself a pat on the back for opening to the awareness that there are opportunities in front of you and for making the decision to move forward in your life.

I recently came upon some notes from a while ago where I struggled with a problem that has cropped up again for me. Sometimes I think, ‘Haven’t I already dealt with this one?’ The answer I receive from my guides is often, ‘Yes, and now you have the opportunity to delve more deeply into this issue and to move yourself even farther forward.’

Our personal journeys are not linear – they do not go forward in a straight line. They spiral, around and around. And, if we are moving forward in our personal growth, we are able to see from a new perspective with each return of the spiral, to understand in a new way what we couldn’t see before. This is moving forward along our path of personal growth in consciousness.

Once you have awakened you cannot unlearn what you have learned. You might try to stand still but the energy within you leads you to move forward.

Keep growing. Keep moving. Reach in front of you for help from someone leaping ahead. Reach behind you to help someone who is moving more slowly.

Keep moving forward.

INSPIRATION: Are You Flipping Out Over Something?

It seems today as if there is always something to ‘Flip Out’ over!  What has you feeling this way today?

I sometimes hear clients longing for simpler lives or less stress or at least less drama in their lives, but they are really wishing for something to change about their circumstances without a thought to how they can change themselves.

Flipping Out happens when we don’t have enough resources in our tool box to deal with what is happening in our environment.  If you can reach into your Resource Tool Box and pull out just what you need to do in this circumstance, then you just do that and there’s no need to get too excited.  But how often are you perfectly prepared for exactly what is going on?

Let me say here that I am not talking about going into denial and pretending that nothing big is happening!  Sticking your fingers in your ear and singing, ‘La, la, la, la!’ won’t manage the stress of the circumstances, although, I admit, sometimes that seems like an attractive behavior choice.  Denial invites the Universe to keep bringing the lesson to us, over and over again, with perhaps more severity each time until we learn what we are to learn.

What tools have you been developing to prepare you for whatever might come your way?  Are you on a path of constant personal growth, seeking new skills, finding new opportunities to explore ideas?  Are you committed to your own personal, spiritual growth as a journey of exploration?  How you answer these questions will determine how well you can handle what happens around you.

Just as an athlete doesn’t wake up one morning and decide to win a gold medal in discus throwing without training for that exact sport, so, too, must you train for the circumstances that haven’t yet come into your life.

When the doctor says, ‘There’s something of concern going on here,’ or you get the phone call that, ‘There’s been an accident,’ how will you respond?

I pray that you never hear those words but it could be something else that throws you for a loop and the resources must already be available to you or you will find it more difficult to cope.

So what are you doing today, this week, this year to expand the tools in your Resource Tool Box?  Are you taking a class?  Working with a coach/counselor?  Reading self-help books?  In a group with speakers who teach you tools?  Attending seminars and conferences with content-rich programs for personal growth?

This is not an activity that can be postponed indefinitely!  Now is the time to prevent Flip Out!

Learning meditation can be a great start.  Breathe, hit the pause button, take a moment to collect yourself.  Allow thoughts to arise but to keep flowing onward, without attaching to the thoughts.  Give yourself permission to focus on your breath and to let go of thoughts and emotions that come up for you.  Give yourself permission to simply BE.

Sign up for a class on a psychological or spiritual topic that intrigues you.  Read a book that someone has recommended to you.  Find a group of explorers that you can join to study new ideas.  Work with a coach who can help you to develop the tools that are best for you.

Fill up the Resource Tool Box and you’ll be ready if and when something happens.  Won’t it be nice to have the confidence of knowing that, even if you never need to use the tools, you won’t have to resort to ‘Flipping Out’?

MUSE-INGS: Step into the Flow

Sometimes I think we’re all striving to achieve something that will allow us to say, ‘I have arrived!’ when what we really want to do is be so in the flow that we are enjoying each moment too much to stop and ‘arrive.’

This is the journey we were born to experience. Every step along the way has the gift of a lesson to be learned, some more gentle than others. But always there is an opportunity to learn. If we resist, if we try to stand our ground in the face of the energy of flow, we spend all of our energy in futile resistance. [Just ask any Trekkie and you will hear, ‘Resistance is futile’!]

It’s easy, though, to move to the two extremes of the concept of ‘being in flow.’

For some, it seems easier to ‘go with the flow’ and relinquish all power to choose the direction of life. For others, there is an urge to constantly resist or try to ignore the energy of the flow, the ‘ostrich syndrome.’ Neither choice makes life the journey of fulfillment that it can be.

When, instead, we choose to determine our Soul Purpose and then to follow the path of fulfilling that purpose, we are participating in the flow of life.

No one’s path is the same as another person’s. This needs to be emphasized, especially when we get into relationships and try to make the relationship move as two people in lockstep trying to move forward as one. Each of us must determine our own path, our own cycle, our own rhythm. And we must take responsibility for taking the actions that keep us in flow with our unique path.

Giving over your power to another person, group, institution, church takes you out of step with your Path of Soul Purpose. Making a conscious choice, however, to join paths with others at certain points along the journey, is your prerogative. But th e choice must be a conscious one, not one in which you allow yourself to step onto someone else’s path because you are not seeking your own. Your Path is Your Path, based on your unique Soul Purpose and Soul Journey.

When your life cycle seems to be at an ebb it is sometimes tempting to allow someone else to take charge of the direction of your path, but this is giving away your power.

Face the direction of your dreams and you will see the Path of Your Soul Purpose unfolding before you. Step onto that path. Have confidence that, when you are moving with the flow of the cycles of your life, you will have everyone around you that you need, all the resources that you need, all the opportunities to learn your lessons.

And if you are unhappy with where you are at the moment, remind yourself that ‘this, too, shall pass’ as the new cycle will begin soon!

Most of the clients I work with as a coach are in some period of transition in their lives, feeling that there must be something more or that there is something that is just beyond their reach. Usually the work is connecting them to their guidance so that they can step out confidently, thinking only about the next step, what is theirs to do in this present moment. This is learning to get into flow.

Focus on the one next step along the Path. Know and recognize the Path of Your Soul Purpose, then follow it.

Go with the flow! But first learn the flow for you!

MUSE-INGS: The Path of Personal Growth Takes You Through the Doorway

How many times have you stared at a Doorway of Opportunity and yet chosen not to step through? Each of us has done that, haven’t we? Sometimes it is because we are afraid to leave the comfort of the familiar place we are in, even if that comfort comes from familiarity and not necessarily what is best for us. And sometimes we are afraid that, if we step through the doorway, we will be asked to ‘play bigger’ than we are comfortable with. Isn’t this really why we content ourselves with ‘playing small’?

When I hear people talk about the fear of public speaking being worse than the fear of death (not for me, but for some) then I think of the ‘stepping out on a stage and being seen’ aspect of public speaking. For some, it is the fear of being seen. For others, it is the fear of owning what you speak.

But we are all called to a life of speaking our truth. We all deserve to be seen. I met a woman recently who was moved because she finally felt ‘seen.’ This woman had the most amazing energy and Light around her, and yet there must be others who are avoiding ‘seeing’ that beauty.

Fear. Fear holds people back from seeing others in their Light because that might mean I should let my Light shine. Fear also keeps a person from playing in a bigger way because others might not ‘get it.’ Worse, others might be angry, or upset, or frightened. And what if ‘they’ don’t like me? We all worry about losing love.

This fear, though, really is the popular acronym: False Evidence Appearing Real. A friend shared a great quote with me today: ‘What you think of me is none of my business!’ This should become the motto of everyone who is afraid of stepping out in a big way!

Your Soul Purpose, your Mission, your Big Why — these are all YOURS!!!! And yours alone. No one else is here to live your Soul Purpose. No one else can accomplish your Mission on Earth. No one else has your Big Why. These are yours and they have been given to you as a part of the unfolding plan of the Universe.

These are also the gift that you have been given to make your life have meaning. You live among others who are on Planet Earth at a time contemporary with you because you all agreed as Souls before birth that you would share in this journey. They have your back.

You agreed to share your gifts. Do you know what they are? Your Soul Purpose was chosen by your Soul to fulfill a group agreement with the others in your Soul Group with whom you are traveling through life. Would you leave them in the lurch? Your Mission is a big mission, not a little task to be completed before you die. Would you leave this Mission unaccomplished? And your Big Why is the reason you are doing what you do, your motivation. Wouldn’t it be nice to have this Big Why identified so that you could fuel your life with the energy of that motivation?

Do the work. Examine yourself. Personal growth work leads to personal success in life. Entrepreneurs know this, which is why they are always working with mentors for both business and personal support. Conscious Living dictates that we examine our lives and become conscious about working on personal growth. The 21st Century is not giving us the luxury (is it really a luxury?) of plenty of time to get around to doing personal growth work. All the energy is focused on our doing the work NOW.

Step through the Doorways of Opportunity that are opening to you today. And trust that there will be more for you tomorrow. Clear the path to living your Soul Purpose and fulfilling your Mission by identifying your Big Why.

MUSE-INGS: Bless the Idiots – They’re Your Teachers!

Every time I encounter the concept of the 3 levels of a human being I am struck by the thought that it all makes so much sense! And if people just understood this concept we could go about our business learning our lessons without causing so much distress to those around us and to Mother Earth herself.

And what about your Soul Group? What if you started looking at the people in your life as those who agreed to help you learn your lessons? Might you treat them differently?

I remember hearing a sermon several years ago by Rev. Jack Groverland at Unity of Boulder, the title of which was, ‘God Bless the Idiots in Your Life.’ Jack talked about how essential to our journey the people we call the ‘idiots’ are when we perceive their role in helping us to learn something about ourselves, our journey or about how the Universe works. Try adopting this attitude and see what happens to your blood pressure. I guarantee it will go down instead of up if you chuckle at the next person who could earn the title ‘today’s idiot’ in your life. Bless them for bringing a lesson into clear focus for you. Then be sure to learn something about yourself.

Knowing about the roles of the ‘spirit’ and Soul in your life can help you to put your own Ego into perspective, too. You have something to learn, in every moment, in every situation, in every relationship. That moment, situation, relationship exists just to help you learn a lesson. Your Soul presented that lesson to your Ego who engineered it so you can benefit. Are you willing to explore what the lesson is and to gather the learning available? That is what Life is – one learning experience after another.

Every situation is presented to you to help you along your educational journey. Have you ever cursed something that happened, like when the chair jumped out and tripped you, or the dog didn’t make it outside in time, or the store ran out of what you came to buy? Or how about the traffic that has slowed you down or the ‘idiot’ who just pulled in front of you and cut you off? Can you feel the energy you generate when you get angry at these things?

Now, what if you were able to, instead of cursing, realize that this latest experience is another opportunity for you to learn something? Your only responsibility is to figure out what it is that you are to learn.

These lessons might not be grandiose or give you the key to the mysteries of the Universe, but they can be profound in the effect that they have on your blossoming into full understanding of yourself as your progress on your life’s journey.

Life and Death. Studying in your Life School to develop consciousness and then graduation so that you can move on. It’s a pretty simple formula that we replicate in our education systems in society. And some of the best teachers we have in this Life institution are the ones we call the ‘idiots.’

Bless them.
