THROWBACK THURSDAY VIDEO: Money

My video Tuesday of this week is about your “Big Why.” For some people their Big Why is money. What we learned from Suzanne Evans’ “Be the Change Event” last week is that your Big Why may take money. So, having the right relationship with money is essential for you to make progress toward your Big Why. Here’s a message from a couple of years ago addressing this very topic:

Ask Yourself… – Richard’s Commentary

So, why DO you get up in the morning? My answer to this question has changed over the course of my long corporate career. I had the opportunity to work on and lead a number of exciting technical projects, from space and earth sciences exploration to commercial software development and logistics planning and management. I always enjoyed my work, its challenges and rewards.

But for all that time I had a bigger “why”…family. Rosemary and I raised three fabulous kids, now in their 30s; they are off doing their own “family things” now. Yes, we have grandkids – a wonder! But they are their parents’ responsibility and their “why” now.

So as my family dynamics have shifted my “big why” is also shifting. Of course I still have family responsibilities to Rosemary but she is fully capable of taking care of herself. It is true that I am taking care of much of the “back-office” obligations of managing our businesses together, Rosemary’s The Scientific Mystic enterprise and our church and consciousness study center, Church of A New Alliance. And these efforts are fun and fruitful. But they are not up there with a “Big Why.”

I love to write. I write lots of things, including blog posts, like this one, poetry which I share selections on my blog (MenandtheGoddess.com), morning pages, sales copy for websites…I spend a lot of my time writing. But writing is not up there with a “Big Why.”

I love bodywork. Currently I am practicing both yoga and several forms of Qigong. In fact I am teaching three classes of Qigong now and really enjoying the sharing the physical “energetic” of the forms, the breath work and the Taoist philosophical underpinnings of Qigong.

This gets at another love: my love of world religions and spirituality. I am an ordained “Interfaith Minister” – by a seminary of Pebble Hill Church, Doylestown, PA. And since my ordination in 2000 I have continued to study, absorb and practice many of the world’s spiritual traditions, from Taoism, to Buddhism, Hinduism, Islam and Sufism to Judaism and Christianity, not to exclude indigenous cultures and their spiritual traditions. My emphasis in understanding these traditions is to gain insight through practice, not just learning the beliefs and reading the texts. It is through practice that we truly get in touch with one another.

I love community. I enjoy the dynamics and give and take, the yin and yang of community, of people sharing their gifts, their understanding and wisdom. How else can we get in tune with the world around us than through community.

I guess the bottom line of what gets me up in the morning is love. I’ve said before in this space that my highest value is PRACTICE –> LOVE. I’ve also mentioned that my fingerprints tell the same tale; my 10 loops for prints point to my purpose: LOVE.

So, yeah, love gets me up in the morning. It keeps me going through the day. And it’s often the last thing on my mind and in my heart as I drift off to sleep.

Big Whys are important. If you don’t know yours do some soul searching. Get your hand and fingerprints read by a Scientific Hand Analyst. Get help eliciting your Big Why if you need it. Knowing makes it fun to get up in the morning!

MUSE-INGS: The Path of Personal Growth Takes You Through the Doorway

How many times have you stared at a Doorway of Opportunity and yet chosen not to step through? Each of us has done that, haven’t we? Sometimes it is because we are afraid to leave the comfort of the familiar place we are in, even if that comfort comes from familiarity and not necessarily what is best for us. And sometimes we are afraid that, if we step through the doorway, we will be asked to ‘play bigger’ than we are comfortable with. Isn’t this really why we content ourselves with ‘playing small’?

When I hear people talk about the fear of public speaking being worse than the fear of death (not for me, but for some) then I think of the ‘stepping out on a stage and being seen’ aspect of public speaking. For some, it is the fear of being seen. For others, it is the fear of owning what you speak.

But we are all called to a life of speaking our truth. We all deserve to be seen. I met a woman recently who was moved because she finally felt ‘seen.’ This woman had the most amazing energy and Light around her, and yet there must be others who are avoiding ‘seeing’ that beauty.

Fear. Fear holds people back from seeing others in their Light because that might mean I should let my Light shine. Fear also keeps a person from playing in a bigger way because others might not ‘get it.’ Worse, others might be angry, or upset, or frightened. And what if ‘they’ don’t like me? We all worry about losing love.

This fear, though, really is the popular acronym: False Evidence Appearing Real. A friend shared a great quote with me today: ‘What you think of me is none of my business!’ This should become the motto of everyone who is afraid of stepping out in a big way!

Your Soul Purpose, your Mission, your Big Why — these are all YOURS!!!! And yours alone. No one else is here to live your Soul Purpose. No one else can accomplish your Mission on Earth. No one else has your Big Why. These are yours and they have been given to you as a part of the unfolding plan of the Universe.

These are also the gift that you have been given to make your life have meaning. You live among others who are on Planet Earth at a time contemporary with you because you all agreed as Souls before birth that you would share in this journey. They have your back.

You agreed to share your gifts. Do you know what they are? Your Soul Purpose was chosen by your Soul to fulfill a group agreement with the others in your Soul Group with whom you are traveling through life. Would you leave them in the lurch? Your Mission is a big mission, not a little task to be completed before you die. Would you leave this Mission unaccomplished? And your Big Why is the reason you are doing what you do, your motivation. Wouldn’t it be nice to have this Big Why identified so that you could fuel your life with the energy of that motivation?

Do the work. Examine yourself. Personal growth work leads to personal success in life. Entrepreneurs know this, which is why they are always working with mentors for both business and personal support. Conscious Living dictates that we examine our lives and become conscious about working on personal growth. The 21st Century is not giving us the luxury (is it really a luxury?) of plenty of time to get around to doing personal growth work. All the energy is focused on our doing the work NOW.

Step through the Doorways of Opportunity that are opening to you today. And trust that there will be more for you tomorrow. Clear the path to living your Soul Purpose and fulfilling your Mission by identifying your Big Why.

Today?

MYSTIC MESSAGE: from The Divine Feminine: Soul Purpose Doors of Opportunity

Dear Ones,

There are energies at work in the Universe that are conspiring to support you in living the life of your destiny. Are you ready to accept the help that is available to you? Are you willing to live your fullest life as your Soul has inspired you to live?

Many people on Planet Earth at this time are merely existing. They are sliding through their lives without conscious thought to their Soul Purpose or their Mission. Are you one of these?

But people around the globe are feeling a stirring within them, a sense that there must be something more. The material world of physical things is shifting and, in some cases, falling away as the Soul begins to stir a person to focus on What Really Matters. Are you one of these people?

Instead of lamenting the current state of economics or politics or world issues, the Awakening Ones are saying, ‘What really matters to my Soul? What is my Soul Purpose? Why was I born to be on Planet Earth at this moment in history? What is my Mission?’

The answers to these important questions help an individual to learn their Big Why. What is YOUR Big Why? Why do you get out of bed in the morning? What ‘lights your fire’? Where is your passion?

Ask these questions of yourself and focus on the first answer that arises in your consciousness, for this answer will be the one from your Soul. If you consider and study and analyze your answer your conscious mind will bring in all sorts of other thoughts that will cloud the message.

Before you ask, though, you must center yourself and relax into the space where your Soul’s Voice can be heard. In the hustle and bustle of modern life it is easy to hear the chatter and to block out the Voice that matters. Be still. Breathe deeply. Clear your mind of anxious thoughts. Settle your body. It only takes a moment to do this, but, when you are in this more relaxed state, you will be able to ask the important questions and hear the answers from your Soul’s Voice.

Make that your priority work today. Ask yourself these questions. Really embrace the answers, even if you’re not sure what to do with the information. This is not the time to judge, analyze or criticize what you receive. This is the time to be totally open and receptive.

If it feels like a struggle you might need to ask for help from someone to guide you in the process. This is appropriate, for there is help available and support for you along your path.

Ask. Receive the answers. Then take action in the direction of your Mission.

Remember, the Universe is conspiring to support you in this endeavor. You will have all the resources you need at the exact moment that you need them. You will have all the people and money and time that you need when the world needs for you to have them. Doors of opportunity will open for you just as you arrive at the doorstep.

Be sure that you walk through the doorway when it opens. Your Soul Purpose is guiding you on that path!

And so it is.

MUSE-INGS: Joe Sixpack? 2 by 4s? or Living a Conscious Life?

‘Self-Realization’ may seem like a highly abstract term but is truly the purpose of living a human life. Our inner Self is seeking expression in the outer world in which we find our self living. At a very deep unconscious level our being is looking for ways to find meaning and purpose in our life and it is the capital ‘S’ Self that is answering the quest.

Have you ever wondered why you were born? What is it that you are to manifest on the Earth plane that was never there before? What yearning in your spirit is seeking an outlet?

Some of us occasionally consider these questions but daily living gets in the way of pursuing the answers. Sometimes we are busy surviving the day or the month or the bills or the job and pondering philosophical questions seems like a luxury we can’t afford. The truth is that we cannot afford NOT to ponder these questions, for this is what makes us an evolving species, deepening our consciousness and awareness so that subsequent humans can learn from us and continue to develop their awareness.

I’ve never thought that my beloved dog, Tara, wonders why she is here on Planet Earth. That doesn’t mean that she is not conscious for she is definitely an aware being. She follows her instincts and develops her talents and modifies her behaviors when she learns what gains her what she seeks [almost always that is a treat!]. But Tara seems to be on the planet and in our lives to give us unconditional love. And, as a temple dog Lhasa Apso, to protect us by warning when danger or perceived danger is near. That’s it. Pretty simple. She knows what she’s here for so she doesn’t spend much time pondering who she is.

Have you discovered your ‘Big Why’? That seems to be a first step in manifesting your purpose on the planet. Who did you come here to be? These are essential questions to living a Conscious Life.

Remember the old stereotype of ‘Joe Sixpack’ who goes to work, comes home, sits in front of the TV wearing only a tee shirt and drinking a sixpack of beer? I’ve never really met a ‘Joe Sixpack’ but it’s a great metaphor for living an unconscious life. Work, sit, drink in what someone is feeding you [mentally] and drink in a numbing substance so you don’t have to feel your life.

Reaching for Self-Realization asks you to live a different kind of life from the one Joe is living. Do what it takes to discover your purpose and your Big Why. Modify your lifestyle so that you can manifest that purpose in the outer world. Live fully present in each moment as the ‘who’ you came here to be.

Do you need help discovering your purpose or your Big Why? Seek that help. Do you feel you know but you haven’t figured out how to make that happen in your life? Get some help with this, too.

Time is speeding up so rapidly in these times that we no longer have the luxury of being Joe Sixpacks in our lives. If you are receiving this message then you are ready to live a Conscious Life. You are ready to move ahead in the direction of Self-Realization. Follow the steps as outlined in the Mystic Message. Be conscious at all times of what opportunities for growth exist in the present moment.

In the teachings of the gurus, achieving Self-Realization in this lifetime means that you don’t have to come back to live again unless you choose to do so to help others along the path. But I believe that living the Joe Sixpack life requires you to come back with another chance at getting conscious, which means having to learn all those lessons over again.

My choice? I’m getting those lessons over with this lifetime so I don’t have to have any do-overs! And I also try to live a Conscious Life so that I am always asking, ‘What is the lesson in this for me?’ I’m trying to avoid those 2 by 4s that the Universe uses to get our attention.

Join me in living a Conscious Life and consciously avoiding 2 by 4s!
