MUSE-INGS: Awaken to Your Life Purpose

The Time of Awakening has arrived! Each of us is being called to awaken to our role in the development and evolution of human consciousness. So the question is not, ‘Do I need to evolve?’ It is, rather, ‘How can I expand my consciousness at this time?’

What are you doing about expanding your consciousness? Do you have spiritual practices in place that support you in this endeavor? And I am not talking about religious practices but the deeper spiritual practices that connect you with the greater wisdom in the Universe, like meditation or journaling or participating in a spiritual community to explore the role of the human in the expanding Universe. Do you regularly ponder the bigger questions in life?

Or are you, as so many are, stuck in dealing with the details of daily life and planning to delve into the deeper questions later, when you have time? Friend, the time is NOW.

This does not mean that you must give away everything that you own and sit on a mountaintop awaiting enlightenment but it does mean that you must metaphorically do this by realigning your priorities so that you lift your awareness beyond the mundane and into the space where the greater manifests itself. Meditation is not the end in and of itself. It is the means by which one can expand consciousness by allowing you to tap into something that is greater than the mundane energies of daily life and into the spaciousness of greater awareness. Meditation also does not mean that you must close off a part of your intellect and become mindless, as some believe. No, it means that you become so mind-full that you use more of your perception, more of who you are, to interact with what is around you.

Are you in touch with your own greatness, what I call your ‘inner splendor’? Do you realize that you HAVE a Life Purpose, a reason that you are alive today? Do you accept that you are a part of the Human Family because you have gifts to share with the other members of this community and that the others are waiting for you to share those gifts?

Accepting that what I have said in the previous paragraph means that you accept responsibility for taking yourself into the larger role that you were born to play. No one becomes a human being to sit in isolation, never interacting with another human being, paying attention only to one’s own needs as an individual and not being concerned with the community of all other human beings on the planet, past, present and future. Each person has a role to play in the constellation of other human beings and in the environment of Mother Earth that welcomed him or her into life as a human.

The time has arrived when each of us must make our commitment to that Life Purpose in a public way. Do you know what your Life Purpose is? If not, then find out. Do you feel that you would like to help the others on the planet but don’t know how you can? Find out. You don’t have to start a huge foundation but you do need to know what it is that you came here to do and to be so that you can fill the gap you were meant to fill in the evolution of human consciousness.

This is why I do the work that I do, helping people to discover why they are here [their Life Purpose] and then helping them to expand their consciousness about the ways to manifest that purpose in their business or career, their relationships, their life. The time is now and each of us must become the person we were meant to be so that all in the human community can evolve. You have a role to play in the greater scheme of things.

I urge you to embrace that role by first identifying what it is and then creating the life that allows you to be who you came here to be. You will experience amazing feelings of fulfillment, the people and the world around you will be enhanced because you are YOU, and the future will look brighter, to you and to everyone else, because you decided to BE the person you were born to be.

Thank you.

MUSE-INGS: Are You Ready to Live Your Life Purpose?

What a pep talk! As we move forward with our lives isn’t it easy to get caught up in all the urgent tasks that we forget about the important ones?

I know that my life is better when I spend a sufficient amount of time in my spiritual practice. I meditate, journal, ask for guidance. And if I fill up my schedule so much that I don’t have time for this then I suffer, sometimes even physically. Meditation can improve how I feel. Journaling can calm an emotional upset by allowing me to tune in to inner wisdom and see a situation from a different perspective. And have you ever used a tool such as angel cards or tarot when you need words of wisdom and they seem to magically know exactly what you need to see/hear? I can’t count the clients who say that this has happened to them. ‘I keep drawing the same Goddess Card over and over. Guess I really need to focus on that area in my life.’ ‘I was asking what I should do and a card popped out of the deck while I was shuffling. It was exactly what I needed to do!’

People say these things all the time. And yet we often wallow in the misery of our situation without using the tools that are at our disposal.

When we focus on our problems we are playing small. When we focus on our inner greatness, what I call ‘inner splendor,’ then we can reach out for something bigger in life. We can reach out with our Self to manifest our own destiny, the Life Purpose we were born to achieve. We need to first, though, believe that we deserve the HUGE mission for which we were born.

No one is born to sit in a corner and stick his thumb in a pie like the Little Jack Horner of nursery rhyme fame. YOU were born to fulfill a Life Purpose that is greater than that. For all the clients that I have helped to discover their Life Purpose, the answer is always something larger or greater than they had anticipated. They might already be on the right track to manifesting that purpose, but there is an added piece that takes them beyond what they could see before. There is a focus that helps them to grow in leaps instead of baby steps. There is greatness in them that must be exposed.

It is my wish that every person who encounters these words learns what their Life Purpose is so that they can accept the enormity of their pre-birth commitment to the rest of humanity and step up to the plate to fulfill that commitment. These are times that call for greatness, not for blindly following what has been taught in the past. The past is the foundation for the present but it cannot define the person you were born to become. Only you have the information inside you that defines you. Staying small does not serve you, your purpose or the Planet.

Are you willing to discover that Life Purpose? Are you willing to commit to fulfilling that Purpose once you have it defined for you? Are you ready to show the world that you are here, that you have shown up to be who you came here to be?

Answer ‘yes,’ please. The rest of us have been waiting to say, ‘Welcome!’

MUSE-INGS: Be in This Moment by Rosemary Bredeson

Sometimes we look at a task before us as if it is a huge undertaking and the enormity can paralyze us.  We react by sticking our head in the sand, or procrastinating or distracting ourselves with ‘bright, shiny objects.’  And, yet, if we break the task down into smaller bites, we can accomplish those and make progress toward our goals.  We just forget that we already know this strategy.

In our daily lives, we can be overwhelmed with our ‘to-do’ lists and we forget that we are a part of a community, that there are others who have needs and we can make their day better by doing something small that feels huge to that other person.  The key to doing this is to being alert to opportunities.  Living a Conscious Life brings us into the Consciousness of the Moment – living each moment with full awareness, of Self and Other, so that we can fully participate in that moment.

Think about how many mindless things you do in a day.  How many minutes do you think you spend in activities that you perform by rote? How much of your day is spent being unconscious or thinking about something other than the activity in which you are engaged in that moment?  You wash the dishes and you think about your to-do list for tomorrow.  You take the dog for a walk and you’re planning your day.  You pick your children up and you are on the phone in the car while they are playing with their toys.  You and your spouse go through the mail and don’t talk to each other at all.  The list goes on and on.

Mindfulness is a practice where you are fully present to each moment of your day.  If you are washing the dishes then you are focused on the washing of the dishes.  You notice the temperature of the water.  You examine the plate to make sure it is clean and you appreciate the food that it held for you to eat.  You get the picture.

So what if you were to go through your day with that same kind of mindfulness focused on the people with whom you interact?  What if you paid attention to the people in line with you in the grocery store?  What if you stopped and listened for a bit to the street musician and then threw some money in the jar?  What if you really acknowledged the server in the restaurant or the receptionist in the office and asked, with genuine interest, how their day has been?

It doesn’t take much to make a difference in someone else’s day but too often we are so focused on the next thing we have to do or how well/badly the last thing we did went that we forget to be fully present to the moment we are living right now.  This moment is here only once in our life.  Every moment that we spend thinking of other moments is thrown away from the time of our life.  We can never get it back and time is our most precious commodity.

Now think if you used an awareness of this present moment as an opportunity to improve someone else’s life.  How would you feel at the end of the day if you took advantage of every opportunity like this?

Pretty darned good.
