Hello and Happy New Year!  Chinese New Year, that is.  On Sunday, February 10^th we have a New Moon [2:20 am Eastern Standard Time] and the start of the Chinese calendar. This is the Year of the Black Water Snake.  There are lots of resources on the internet for information about your Chinese horoscope (our Doctor of Oriental Medicine in China emailed us what to expect for the Rooster/Richard and Rat/Rosemary).  It’s fun to learn what other cultures can teach us.  Here’s what I found in Wikipedia about Chinese New Year:  “The Chinese New Year tradition is to reconcile, forget all grudges and sincerely wish peace and happiness for everyone.”  Not a bad way to start the New Year!

Since this is the ‘News’ section I have to say, “Congratulations, Ravens!!!!!” We’re very excited around here that the Ravens won the Super Bowl!!!  Maryland has been purple for weeks now.  The Annapolis newspaper had a purple banner all weekend, teachers at schools have been wearing purple and Ravens jerseys with their favorite players’ number on them, the checkers at the grocery store are in purple.  It’s everywhere!  And it’s my favorite color.  So there’s been a lot of celebration energy and it’s infectious.  [Sorry if you were rooting for the 49ers.  They’re great, too, but this was the Purple Year.]

Be Bold.  Step Out. Take Action.  The Time is NOW!!!  And then, just as we’re doing for the Ravens, CELEBRATE YOUR SUCCESS!!!

Greetings from a chilly Chesapeake Bay area!  Richard and I spent a lovely long weekend on the ‘other side’ of the Bay from Annapolis – the Eastern Shore of Maryland.  My sister and brother-in-law are wintering in Florida and staying warm. They generously offered their home to us for a retreat.  It was wonderful to get into a different space and relax while planning out our 2013.  Thank you, Ellie and Elliot!

What can you do to retreat and plan?  Of course, as we move into the year, some planning gets done long before New Year’s Day, but now is the time to map out your dreams and make sure you are working in that direction that will manifest those dreams.  Have you put all the high-value items on your calendar to make sure they don’t get lost in the day-to-day activities that seem to swallow up months?  Get out your 2013 calendar and make sure your family time, your quarterly or monthly retreats are on the schedule and plan around those events.

How is your 2013 so far?  Are you feeling on track with your goals?  Or do you feel as if you are facing a “mountain” like this Mystic Mountain, a part of the Carina Nebula as captured by the Hubble Space Telescope? What new things will you be learning this year?  Be sure to put some challenges in your calendar!  Stretch yourself this year.

Are you ready for Groundhog Day on February 2?  Here in the US we wait for Punxsutawney Phil, the groundhog, to emerge from his home and see his shadow, which indicates 6 more weeks of winter, or not, in which case he stays out and Spring is just around the corner.  [In actuality, of course, Spring is 6 weeks away no matter what!  But it’s great fun!]  And, if you’ve seen the movie Groundhog Day, you know about the repetition of the day until the main character learns his lessons.  This is how Life is – we keep getting opportunities to learn our lessons.

Ask the right questions and you can learn your lessons faster!

This is also the time of Imbolc on the ancient Celtic calendar, a time when the days are getting visibly longer.  We can celebrate the return of the Sun after Winter’s darkness.  This is also Richard’s and my Half-Birthday!  Since we both have birthdays on August 2, we have to celebrate our Half-Birthdays to get 2 celebrations into the year.  Isn’t it interesting that we were both born at Lammas, the Celtic celebration of the Harvest and the halfway point between the Summer Solstice and the Autumnal Equinox, so our Half-Birthdays are at Imbolc, halfway between the Winter Solstice and the Spring Equinox?

We finally have some snow!  I think we went through all of last winter in Maryland without this much snow, so it’s fun. (We have 1-2 inches but it’s still pretty, when viewed from inside a nice warm house!)  I love Winter and I know that many of you are wishing you were Down Under wearing a sundress and enjoying the heat.

But Winter is the time when we are invited to go inside and retreat.  To do the ‘inner cave’ work, to reflect, to analyze, to wonder, to ponder and to plan.  Are you giving yourself time to do that inner work these days?  Or are you gung-ho to get things done, to be busy, busy, busy?  Think about the weather and how it helps you to make the decision to hole up for a bit.

When people lived by the seasons and not by the clock they brought the animals into the house and lived within the warm safety of their space, eating what they had prepared and heating the home with wood they had gathered.  This is the time to really examine yourself and your life and your purpose and your calendar.  And if you’re one of our RosemarySpace members from the Southern Hemisphere, enjoy your Summer!  Your Winter will be here before you know it.

The Full Moon happens on Saturday, January 26 at11:38 pm Eastern Standard Time.  Great time to reach into your emotional closet and discard anything that doesn’t serve your personal growth.  Check your environment, too, for any objects or colors that seem to hold you back into who you were instead of supporting you in who you are becoming.  The Sun has moved into the astrological sign of Aquarius – which means that the Moon is in the opposite sign when it is Full.  This Leo Full Moon highlights the archetypal truths of both Leo and Aquarius – that every one of us is a unique spark of the divine and an inseparable part of the web of life.  We all have a special gift and role to play.  [The Mountain Astrologer]

It’s mid-January – do you know where your year is?  2013 is the post 2012 era beginning with all the energy to support your transformation.  We’re feeling it here!  Time for new activities, upleveled offerings, connections with new networks.  All the energy of The Shift that led up to its culmination at the Solstice in December 2012 is now propelling us to act on the transformation we’ve experienced.

Happy New Moon TODAY!!!  At 2:45 pm Eastern Standard Time we’ll have a New Moon, where the Moon gets between the Earth and the Sun and all we can see is a dark side of the Moon (reflecting no sunlight).  Astrologically, this means that the Sun and Moon are in the same astrological sign, Capricorn.  The Sun, our Self, and the Moon, our Heart, are focusing the same energies for us.  Use this time to invite in new ways of being in 2013.  Release the past and live in this present moment.  These New Moon energies will support you.

2013 is only 11 days old and already everyone seems to be excited about new possibilities.  My mentoring clients are leaping forward this year – kudos to you!  And everyone who is having Scientific Hand Analysis sessions is committing to live their Soul Purpose NOW.  Woo Hoo!

This is an exciting time to be on Planet Earth.  We’ve made it through the transformative time of 2012 and now we get to move into manifesting our Purpose with all the energy of the new times, the new consciousness of humanity.
