MUSE-INGS: Who is Your Tribe?

The Mystic Messages have had a lot to say about ‘community’ this year. I’m guessing because we human beings need to be hit over the head sometimes before we get the message we need to hear.

This community of Colorado Springs decided to choose to have half the street lights turned off rather than to raise property taxes a penny to keep them on. The city made national news for that decision. Then our neighbor’s daughter hit a deer in the road because it was a stretch with no street lights and she couldn’t see the deer until it was too late. This poor high school student was very disturbed by the incident.

Fortunately, she was not hurt but the damage could have been much greater. Was that worth keeping a penny per some unit of assessed value? When does the good of the community become more important than the penny?

Why do you suppose that we’re being told so much about ‘community’? Why do you think it’s coming up again and again for us to look at? What happens inside you when you think of the word ‘community’?

For some, the word evokes a strong sense of belonging, of being a part of a tribe joined for the common good. For others, it brings up a fear based on an experience of suffering at the hands of a community that abused or ignored or in some other way was not a good fit for the person. Others think of community as being a group who want to take something away from them that is ‘mine’ – picture here a 2-year-old saying that word with all the ownership a tot can express!

What does ‘community’ mean to you? And can we define/redefine it so that it moves us forward in the evolution of consciousness?

I think it’s important for us to grasp the concept of our being social animals, that we live in community with others whether we like it or not. Unless you are a hermit living in a cave at the top of a mountain somewhere (and I suspect that if you are reading these words, you are not that!) then you live in a community of individuals – your neighborhood, your social tribe, your work colleagues, your family. How do you relate to the others around you?

More importantly, have you found your tribe of like-minded folk with whom you can let your hair down and be your authentic self? Are you a member of a community where people share values and ideals and are exploring how they can live a richer life while helping others to do the same? Do you know how to find that tribe for yourself?

There are intentional communities springing up in many places, including online. Many times there are serendipitous connections being made that lead to the forming of a community. Sometimes it takes intention on the part of one or some individuals to make it happen. And maybe, just maybe, you are the epicenter and it is time for you to gather around you the folks with whom you can relate.

Each individual is a part of multiple communities and the good of the community rests on the shoulders of the individuals who make up that community. If you think that your desires should trump the needs of the communal good then you really need to examine your responsibilities to that community. We human beings need to look beyond ourselves to make contributions that acknowledge our connectedness, not our separation.

Do the inner work to examine your life in this context. What communities are you a part of and what is your role? What communities do you want to become a part of and what is your opportunity to create that connection?

Who is your tribe?

MUSE-INGS: Awaken to Your Life Purpose

The Time of Awakening has arrived! Each of us is being called to awaken to our role in the development and evolution of human consciousness. So the question is not, ‘Do I need to evolve?’ It is, rather, ‘How can I expand my consciousness at this time?’

What are you doing about expanding your consciousness? Do you have spiritual practices in place that support you in this endeavor? And I am not talking about religious practices but the deeper spiritual practices that connect you with the greater wisdom in the Universe, like meditation or journaling or participating in a spiritual community to explore the role of the human in the expanding Universe. Do you regularly ponder the bigger questions in life?

Or are you, as so many are, stuck in dealing with the details of daily life and planning to delve into the deeper questions later, when you have time? Friend, the time is NOW.

This does not mean that you must give away everything that you own and sit on a mountaintop awaiting enlightenment but it does mean that you must metaphorically do this by realigning your priorities so that you lift your awareness beyond the mundane and into the space where the greater manifests itself. Meditation is not the end in and of itself. It is the means by which one can expand consciousness by allowing you to tap into something that is greater than the mundane energies of daily life and into the spaciousness of greater awareness. Meditation also does not mean that you must close off a part of your intellect and become mindless, as some believe. No, it means that you become so mind-full that you use more of your perception, more of who you are, to interact with what is around you.

Are you in touch with your own greatness, what I call your ‘inner splendor’? Do you realize that you HAVE a Life Purpose, a reason that you are alive today? Do you accept that you are a part of the Human Family because you have gifts to share with the other members of this community and that the others are waiting for you to share those gifts?

Accepting that what I have said in the previous paragraph means that you accept responsibility for taking yourself into the larger role that you were born to play. No one becomes a human being to sit in isolation, never interacting with another human being, paying attention only to one’s own needs as an individual and not being concerned with the community of all other human beings on the planet, past, present and future. Each person has a role to play in the constellation of other human beings and in the environment of Mother Earth that welcomed him or her into life as a human.

The time has arrived when each of us must make our commitment to that Life Purpose in a public way. Do you know what your Life Purpose is? If not, then find out. Do you feel that you would like to help the others on the planet but don’t know how you can? Find out. You don’t have to start a huge foundation but you do need to know what it is that you came here to do and to be so that you can fill the gap you were meant to fill in the evolution of human consciousness.

This is why I do the work that I do, helping people to discover why they are here [their Life Purpose] and then helping them to expand their consciousness about the ways to manifest that purpose in their business or career, their relationships, their life. The time is now and each of us must become the person we were meant to be so that all in the human community can evolve. You have a role to play in the greater scheme of things.

I urge you to embrace that role by first identifying what it is and then creating the life that allows you to be who you came here to be. You will experience amazing feelings of fulfillment, the people and the world around you will be enhanced because you are YOU, and the future will look brighter, to you and to everyone else, because you decided to BE the person you were born to be.

Thank you.

THIS WEEK’S MYSTIC MESSAGE from The Divine Feminine: Evolve or Evaporate!

Dear Ones,

The world is rapidly changing on its very axis and many people are walking on her surface with confused minds and unsettled hearts.  The energy of these times can be too much for some people to handle while others are plunging in to their transformations with vigor and enthusiasm. Which category is yours?

Now is not the time to sit on the fence.  You must decide whether you are ready to grow or if you are choosing to ‘sit this one out.’  Each individual faces a personal crisis of transformation and for some the leap to their next level is a frighteningly huge one.  Again, are you committing to transform or are you choosing to stay where you are?  Or are you, as yet, undecided about that answer?

Decide now.  Transformation is before you, whether you know it or not and whether you are ready or not.  Each human being, no matter how old or young they are, is being called to commit to the coming transformation within.  No one can escape this.  Those who go willingly into transformation will find that they are comfortably changed on the other side of the process.  Those who resist but eventually go along will also be comfortable but it might take them longer to effect the change and there might be some discomfort before they settle down.

Those, however, who resist and regress, who decide not to step into their own transformation, will be very uncomfortable as the world around them changes and they no longer recognize their environment.  This is not to alarm anyone about catastrophic Earth changes or terrible things to come.  But the people who resist change will be left behind as the evolution of Consciousness eclipses their little minds.

Have you thought about yourself as a participant in the evolutionary aspect of the expansion of human awareness?  Each individual carries a responsibility to the evolution of Consciousness on the planet and they participate by expanding their own awareness into energies, spaces and dimensions beyond their old lives.  The teacher who focuses on fostering the creativity innate in their students is participating in the expansion of human awareness.  The person who meditates and stills the chatter of their mind taps into other dimensions where silence and answers live.  The business person who has a soul in their business instead of having a business that ‘sucks the soul’ from its employees is participating in the evolution of Consciousness.

How are you participating?  Are you a parent, raising a child who is allowed to reach beyond the visible into the imagination?  Are you a friend who encourages others to stretch themselves rather than fitting into a mold designed by someone else?  Do you see your role in relationships as supporting others in their exploration of ideas or are you pulling them back into what’s been done before?

Think about these things.  You were born into the time when the Earth needed you to help all of humanity expand.  Your spirit agreed before you were born that you would be here for this evolutionary moment.  All those around you coordinated their life plans so that you could share this moment with them.  This is an exciting moment in the evolution of Consciousness.  Stay curious.  Continue to grow.  Love Mother Earth for bringing you to her heart when you were most needed.  And participate in the growth that you are called to expand.

And so it is.

MUSE-INGS: “Be the Change” by Rosemary Bredeson

I wonder if the recent earthquakes and volcano eruptions are symbolic of the changes we can be expecting among human societies soon?  I, for one, hope to learn to grow and change without cataclysm!

But how many of us are really open to change?  Do we embrace it or do we run from it?

I believe that change is a good thing when it derives from expanded awareness, more intellectual examination of an idea, a consciousness that has evolved.  But the kind of change that follows a rush into fear or a determination to shut down a part of the self, especially if that part is the intellectual, thinking part, is a kind of change that does not advance humanity in its consciousness evolution.  When we are in a state of fear we have fewer resources with which to work than when we are in a more relaxed state of awareness.  And when we choose to stay in fear we give away our power to those who would take it from us.

This is the dynamic that bullies bank their efforts on.  Make us fearful and they can take what they want from us.  Big bullies on big playing stages can convince us to give up a great deal of our personal power if they can make us fearful enough.  The only way to counteract this energy is to stay in our own power, refuse to cower in fear, and retain a connection to our thinking self.

Have you ever seen someone in fear who seems to lose their intellectual abilities and be able only to focus on that which they fear?  I watched our dog, Tara, play with a mouse today and the mouse finally stayed cornered and shivering, essentially giving up in fear, when I blocked its path.  [Unfortunately, Tara was still in the corner the mouse had left, still trying to dig it out – hadn’t noticed the mouse was gone.  Obviously we need to get a cat!]  But the mouse probably could have gotten away if it hadn’t been intimidated by a small Lhasa Apso and a large human being.

We sometimes do the same thing that mouse did – stand in a corner, shivering and cowering in fear – when if we stepped up and figured out a solution we could get ourselves out of that corner.  This mouse scurried right by the dog who was continuing to dig for it in the other corner of the room.  Maybe all we need to do is to face our fears and then get in touch with our inner power to overcome those fears.

No one can take away your inner power unless you give it to them.  Remember that your strength does not derive from a gift from others.  Your strength resides in you and all you need to do is to remember that it is there.  When changes come, look inside yourself to see how you can best benefit from those changes.  Do not be in fear of change.  Use the energy of change to become more empowered.  You can change that which no longer serves you and strengthen your resolve in those areas that you do not wish to change.

You can decide what to do with change energy.  Decide to expand your awareness and advance the evolution of human consciousness.  Join the group or groups that support you in this.

As Gandhi said, “Be the change you wish to see in the world.”
