Just as we’d throw the cosmic order out of balance if we only want yang and reject yin, so also we’d gum up the free flow of helping if we only want to be a have/helper and can’t abide the experience of have-not, of needing help. The helping universe requires both. To participate in that universe – to honor the two sides – we have to be willing to ‘cry out.’
Denise Breton and Christopher Largent
In the cycle of every life there is a time for having and a time for having-not. It is our work to learn to be happy in both cycles of life, for if we can only find happiness in the times when we are ‘haves’ then we will spend periods of our lives depending on circumstances instead of participating in the lessons of that cycle. Be always in flow. Give help or get help, it is all a part of the ‘free flow of helping.’

Well stated. I am certainly guilty of only wanting to be a “have.”
As I mature, I am finally realizing the beauty of both states.
Thank you for putting this into words.
