MUSE-INGS: What is your unconscious mind deciding for you?

It seems as if we’re always being told to examine our thoughts, our beliefs.  That’s not as easy as it sounds.

I’ve worked with people who are literally shocked to discover some of the things that they believe.  Our unconscious minds are powerful helpers in our journey of personal growth, but with that power comes an ability to derail our best efforts, the decisions we make consciously but without the agreement of our unconscious minds.

Does this sound difficult to believe?  Let’s look at how powerful that unconscious mind can be.

You can breathe without thinking about it, right?  You don’t go around telling your heart to ‘Beat Now, and Now, and Now,’ do you?  Somewhere in your system is a controller taking care of all those systems so you don’t have to make a conscious decision to get your heart to beat or your lungs to expand.  So why shouldn’t that ‘controller’ be making other decisions for you?  Like how you will respond to a stimulus that is similar to what you experienced when you were 5 or 7 years old?  What about that knee-jerk reaction you had?  Did you consciously choose that or did it come from somewhere else?

Prejudice comes from training in our youth.  In the show, ‘South Pacific,’ they say that you must be carefully taught to hate.  But once those seeds of hatred are planted, you might not even know that you believe that someone ‘should be hated.’  Or what about those family stories that plant a seed about who you are supposed to be?  ‘Our family always does…….’ [fill in the blank].  There can be some powerful beliefs ingrained in us as children that we don’t even recognize are at work.

And so, as adults, we go along thinking that we are in charge when the truth is that our unconscious minds are holding onto beliefs and thoughts about ourselves and the world that might not be valid anymore.  The bogeyman under the bed might not actually be there but the little child within might still be afraid of a strange situation.

How do we use this information in our adult lives?  The first place to start is to examine what we believe.  In every situation, the question to ask is, ‘Is what I believe about this situation true?’  When we are responding to a particular stimulus, we can ask ourselves if the response is appropriate in this moment or is our unconscious mind adding on some data from previous experiences that might not apply right now.  This ability to ask questions of ourselves is the first step to living a conscious life.

And we must question what comes at us and to us from outside sources.  If you are told something that doesn’t feel right, pause and ask yourself what it is exactly that you are feeling.  What, within yourself, is not resonating with this information?  Or what IS resonating with this information, and can you believe something new or contrary to what you believed before?

These questions only help us if we have already started to examine ourselves.  Being on a path of personal growth invites us to become aware in every moment of our own thoughts and beliefs.  For some, this might require help at first, especially in clearing away blocks held in the unconscious mind and difficult to unearth for examination.  The good news is that the more you practice examining your thoughts and beliefs the easier it is to continue.  It rapidly becomes a way of life as your understanding deepens of the intricate relationship of your conscious and unconscious minds.

Personal growth is the path to bringing more Light into your life.  Embrace the journey.  Do the work.  Examine what you believe, both consciously and unconsciously, and grow.

THIS WEEK’S MYSTIC MESSAGE from The Divine Feminine: Are you willing to change your beliefs?

Dear Ones,

People are gathering.  Are you noticing this?  People are gathering with those who think the way they do.  They are not gathering to discuss ideas and issues.  They are gathering to fuel their emotions by listening to others who think as they do, with the same open-mindedness or closed-mindedness that they embrace.

But there are some who are finding their Tribes. They are finding those who also wish to uplift the World.  Those who are feeling called to assist all of humanity in growing, in evolving, are looking for others who feel a mission to do the same.  These are the groups who are gaining power in the World.

The media reports on the groups that are the most vocal, the most emotional.  Many media outlets, especially in the Western part of the World, are fueling this emotionalism by carefully determining what they will and won’t share with their audiences, picking and choosing so-called ‘facts’ and ignoring truth.  Some countries have always had government-controlled information channels but more countries are operating that way in this time.

What does this mean to you as you attempt to live a Conscious Life?  Here is what we would say to you.

Be very careful about what information, images, thoughts and ideas you embrace.  We are not saying you need to believe this person or that, but you must decide for yourself where your truth is in a given moment.  Can you be a solid rock in a moving stream of information and mis-information?  Can you at the same time be an open-minded individual who is willing to examine new information and, possibly, change your position if the information leads you to do so?

Those who hold fast to ideas that may have been true for them in the past, even when current evidence indicates that those ideas are no longer valid, are the people who are refusing to evolve and to grow.  The others, however, who continue to explore new ideas, may or may not change their beliefs as a result of that exploration but they are open to the possibility.  The latter are the ones who carry humanity forward to expanded awareness and evolved consciousness.

Let us look at what this means in your daily life.  If you are someone who has a difficult time letting go of old patterns and beliefs, do you limit your contacts to those who will support your non-growth?  Are you still socializing with people who behave the way you did in high school even though their behavior often embarrasses you?  Are you staying in relationships that do not help you to grow because they are familiar, even if not comfortable?  Do you shut down when someone around you expresses an opinion that does not agree with yours?  And, when that happens, do you make the discussion a personal attack rather than a discussion of ideas, impersonally evaluated?

None of these choices supports you in your personal journey toward fulfillment in your life.  Why choose to stay ‘stuck’ when you have the option to grow into more Light?

The path of personal growth demands that each individual continually seek enlightenment, that is, a growing Light within that reflects expansion of consciousness.  Everything that happens is an opportunity to learn something that can expand your Inner Light.  Are you willing to seek that?  Are you willing to examine the ideas you hold, consciously or unconsciously, and determine if they are appropriate for you today?  Are you willing to grow rather than to stagnate?

You are always at a point of choice in your Life.  You can choose to continue to believe what you have always believed or you can change those beliefs.  You can choose to hold the same thoughts about yourself or you can change the thoughts you embrace.  And you can choose to look around you for the lessons in the present moment or you can shut down and move sightlessly through your moments.  The choice is always yours.

We hope you will choose to look for the Light in every situation, to look for the path of growth, and to be willing to expand your awareness to examine new ideas, new thoughts, new beliefs and to embrace the new beliefs if they resonate with your own Inner Light.

And so it is.

BOOK LIGHTS: from “The Planetarization of Consciousness” by Dane Rudhyar

“Philosophy, in the most authentic sense of this word, is an enquiry into the basic character and the implications of human experience and, in the most general sense of the term, existence. [Italics the author’s]  The purpose of such an enquiry seems obvious.  It is to enable human beings to collectively and individually develop their innate potentialities with the best possible chance of success, of total happiness and/or self-transformation toward higher levels of fulfillment.”

by Dane Rudhyar

Thus begins Dane Rudhyar’s 1970/77 book.  How far, it seems, we have come since we honored the philosophers in our society.  For some of us, it becomes difficult to lift ourselves up above mundane human existence and we leave the philosophy part to the scholars.  But there are questions that we must ask ourselves and, as humans, this is a part of our existence on Planet Earth.  Perhaps the most essential questioning starts with ‘Why am I here? Who am I here to BE?’

Let’s promise ourselves that we will focus on those questions and look for the lessons that contain the answers.  We ARE here to develop our innate potentialities!

MUSE-INGS: Notice the Lessons

Lessons.  Lessons. Lessons.  Did you ever wish for ‘recess in the School of Life’?

Sometimes the lessons seem to be piled on top of each other, and at other times they seem to be so indistinct that they are almost impossible to discern.  It can feel exhausting to constantly be looking for the lessons.

BUT this is what makes Life so exciting, so fulfilling.  Everything that happens has a lesson somewhere inside it.  Are things going smoothly?  What’s the lesson in that?  Is there a bird in the yard?  What kind of bird is it and what is the lesson in that?  Are you late or is someone late for a meeting with you?  What is the lesson in that?

If we are constantly looking for the lesson, even in the little things in life, then we are not falling into the doldrums or panicking or getting angry.  We are simply curious about what the lessons are.

My mastermind buddy, Cass, and I were on the phone recently talking about new directions for our businesses when Cass watched 2 baby deer be born right in front of her!  How exciting to have the privilege to watch these new lives come into the world!  My observation was that the Universe was telling us that our new directions bring new life into our businesses – this scene was confirmation of all the energy of newness.  We both enjoyed the sign.

Where can you look for confirmation that you are on the right track?  What about indications that you might want to consider another avenue today?  What does the current moment have as a gift for you?

Start noticing.  That’s all it takes.  Noticing.  Notice the person in front of you at Starbucks.  Our friend in Malibu just noticed that it was Kevin Spacey!  Notice the person at the cash register in the store while you are shopping.  They might need a smile or a kind word.  Notice what the messages in Nature are for you.  Deer?  Rabbits? Bears? Dogs? Cats?  Don’t worry about what the books say – what are these animals saying to you today?  Pause and listen to the voice of Nature to get a message.

Where does it feel as if your Power is residing in your body today?  This is another way to learn the lessons of the moment.  Take a moment to feel fully present in your body.  What do you notice?  Can you find a spot that holds your personal power right now?  If not, then where are you hiding it?

These are the kinds of questions that can guide you through a day.  Are you in an uncomfortable situation?  Find your personal power in your body and put your hand over it.  If you can’t find it, then put your hand over your solar plexus.  Are you feeling confused about what to do next?  Look around you, take a walk in Nature.  What are the signs, the signals with messages for you?

Your lessons are why you are awake and aware in this present moment.  Notice.

THIS WEEK’S MYSTIC MESSAGE from The Divine Feminine: Create the Life of your Life Purpose

Dear Ones,

Every one of you has experienced hurt, elation, pain, joy, love, hatred, fun, ennui.  These are a part of the human experience.  Do you use these experiences to learn lessons or do you curse the darkness and forget to celebrate the Light?  How you respond to life’s experiences defines who you are as human being on a path toward greater consciousness.

Many people live in such great fear that they cannot see the Light when it appears all around them.  They are searching for the darkness, searching for that which they most dread, and it is as if they have blinders on, preventing them from seeing what is good and gentle and friendly in their environment.  It is very difficult to get these people to open up to the Light available to them because their vision is too narrow to embrace it.

There are others who allow Life to happen to them.  They are passively awaiting the next experience, wondering what will happen, planning to react but not making the effort to be proactive.  These people are suffering because they do not feel empowered to create their own life.  These are the ones who can be taught that they can take action to bring their Life into focus when they claim the power to do so.

Still others are vigorously fighting their own Life Purpose.  They are in denial about why they came to Planet Earth, who they incarnated to Be.  These people project onto others the lessons that are theirs to learn.  They work at their lives without finding any joy in daily activities.  They seem to run in the other direction from growth opportunities.  Some of these are so hardened that they deride others who are on a path of growth.  It is a difficult situation when one must deal with these people because they are negative in their perspective and they do not support the growth and progression of others if it interferes with their plans.

Those who are learning their lessons, who embrace the creative energy involved in making Life be a fulfilling collection of lessons, who seek to manifest their Life Purpose on Planet Earth, are the ones who can find joy even when Life looks darkest.  These are the ones who see other people as fellow journeyers, not as impediments to plans.  These people know how to smile from their hearts, and how to feel Love and to offer Love in their daily lives.

Which are you?  Do you recognize a part of yourself in these categories?  Do you see a past ‘you’ in one of them?

Looking for the lesson in your experience gives you the power to grow, the power to make the lesson the important aspect of this moment, not the circumstance.  Do you realize how powerful you can be when you can step up above a circumstance to see it in relation to a bigger picture?  This is how one learns the lessons contained in an experience.  Open yourself up to learning something from what is going on in the present moment, for Life is always about this present moment.  Worrying about tomorrow or yesterday drains your energy and takes you away from the lesson and the personal growth available in this present moment.

Allow yourself to focus on your growth, which supports your Life Purpose.  Allow this moment to be a gift for you, no matter what the circumstances are.  Are you ill?  What is the message in the illness for you?  Are you worried about finances?  How are you deciding that you lack support?  Are you feeling that things are going well for you in this moment?  What can you learn from that and who else can you help?

There is always a lesson for you.  Keep learning the lessons and you will keep growing.  Create your Life to be in consonance with your Life Purpose.  Be who you came to Planet Earth to Be.

And so it is.

NEWS FROM ROSEMARY

We’re coming up to the end of Summer and the kids are back in school already.  Somehow Summer seems to fly by these days.  Are you ready for Fall?  Summer is a time for starting to harvest that which we planted in the Springtime.  What seeds did you sow?  Are you ready to harvest and are you considering what to sow for your Fall crop?  The cycles of Nature help us to look at our lives in different ways for each season so consider these waning days of Summer and shine the Light into the corners of your ‘fields.’

Mercury goes Retrograde on Friday (today), August 20th around 2:00 pm MDT.  Remember that this is a time to ‘remember’ and also to ‘redo things, revise, retool, rescript, rethink, or recheck’ (thank you, Chris Largent!).  As you re-examine relationships, along comes a Full Moon of Virgo [the Moon in Pisces is opposite the Sun in Virgo] on Tuesday and this is a time of revelation. And Pluto is getting into the act relating to both the Sun and the Moon.  As The Mountain Astrologer puts it, “Pluto helps to peel away layers of confusion, so we can recognize that faith requires action and work requires a sense of higher purpose if we are to fulfill our potentials.”

If you are questioning your higher purpose, then you might want to schedule a private session with me so that you can determine what I call your Essential Life Purpose, the higher purpose that compels you forward into fulfillment.  I have some appointments available in the next few weeks before my crazy September travel schedule.  And when you’re ready for a real breakthrough, let’s schedule A Day with Your Muse, a full- or half- day experience in beautiful Colorado Springs where we will work with your Life Purpose and develop your Essential Life Purpose Roadmap to outline the next steps for you.  Contact me for details about this life changing experience – Your Museday!

One of my Fall trips is to Las Vegas for Ali Brown’s Shine Event Nov. 2-4.  I attended last year and this is a not-to-be-missed event if you are an entrepreneur wanting to expand your business.  No matter what business you are in, this event will be inspirational and educational.  And it is a networking opportunity extraordinaire!  I have made a host of new friends from the last Shine event and they are awesome people!  Richard and I will be in Vegas Nov. 1-6 – hope to see you there!  Here’s the link to learn more.  And you can bring a friend for free! BOOK LIGHTS: “Smart Women Know Their Why” by Sheri McConnell

“Understand this.  Reacting is not authentic.  When we are in a reactive moment, we are not operating from our authentic core and we literally shrink and cause those around us to shrink also.  Being authentic is not about you, it is about your time in this world and how you affect everything around you.”

Sheri McConnell

Conscious Living requires that we be authentic – to our Higher Self and to our Life Purpose.  I love what Sheri is saying – ‘Being authentic is not about you.’  It is time to discover and claim your Life Purpose and to manifest that in the World.  I’ll help you!  And we are all waiting for you to do this!  You are loved and supported as you make the choice to be your authentic self.

MUSE-INGS: What’s your ‘Why’?

I have never thought of the cave people as ‘artists’ but this message brings a new light to that word, doesn’t it?  Of course, I have seen cave paintings and petroglyphs but I hadn’t thought about the division of labor beginning back in the days of the cave dwellers.  I am intrigued by the idea that we each have talents and it helps society for us to determine what those talents are.  Self-examination as an aid to society as a whole.  Hmmmm…..

So where are your talents?  I can play the piano, a bit, but I’m not as good [by any measure!] as my friend, Cindy, who is a professional musician.  I can cook a decent meal but I’m not as good as my nephew, Jonathan, the chef.  Does comparing myself to others help anybody?  I don’t think so.

Each of us has a Life Purpose that defines the ‘why’ of our being here at this moment in the history of Planet Earth.  For some of the cave dwellers, they were the chroniclers of their people’s existence.  Maybe there was some elaborate communication going on and they were the ones who helped to educate the next group of people who came along.  What is your ‘why’?

Have you ever examined this question?  Have you asked yourself the ‘why’ and the ‘who’?  Or have you focused on the ‘what’ you came to Earth to DO?  I suspect that most of us have been answering this question since we were tiny tots – ‘What do you want to do when you grow up?’  Sometimes it’s couched as ‘What do you want to BE when you grow up?’ but isn’t that the same thing? A doctor.  A firefighter.  A vet.  A teacher.    But there’s a more important question to ask ourselves as adults – ‘WHO did I come here to BE?’

The way to answer that question is to look at some other questions.  ‘Why did I come to Earth at this time?’  is one of those questions.  ‘What are my talents and my dreams?’ is another one.  The important thing is to ASK questions of ourselves.  This is the most important aspect of living a Conscious Life.

When we slide through our days without questioning ourselves we do a disservice to all of society.  Think about the context of your Life.  You are alive on Planet Earth at the same moment as all of the others on Earth today have chosen to be here.  Each of you has a personal Life Purpose for your existence.  All of you have agreed to be here at the same time.  What if you chose not to search for your purpose?  What if you told all of the other people, billions of them, that you were not going to show up for your mission on Earth?  And how would you feel if someone told you that they were not going to fulfill their Life Purpose even though you are depending on them to do just that?

It’s interesting to ponder the web that humanity has woven by choosing to be contemporaries on Planet Earth.  Each person has a responsibility to be the someone that their Higher Self knows them to be.

The first step in living your Life Purpose is to discover what it is.  Do the self-examination that requires.  Ask for help if you need it.  There are many ways to uncover this but don’t let another week go by without doing some self-
examination.  Find out your personal ‘why.’  It could change your Life!

THIS WEEK’S MYSTIC MESSAGE from The Divine Feminine: Where do your talents lie?

Dear Ones,

In the beginning of human history, people were struggling to exist.  Their days were spent in pursuit of food, shelter and protection from enemies.  There was not much energy or time left over for subtleties or leisure.  But they did create art.  The cavemen and women drew pictures to record what was happening in their lives and they used pictures to communicate with each other before language, spoken or written, was available to them.

These early humans adorned their bodies to show prowess or status or to attract a mate.  They appreciated that some of their people had more artistic talent than others and thus duties were assigned based on innate talents and interests.  People started to create a division of labor so that a band of people could exist in a more organized and more successful manner.

If you fast forward to the 21st Century, what do you find?  People find themselves being forced into jobs with duties that may or may not align with their talents and interests.  People are busy making money to buy necessities and entertainment and spend their energy so that they have little time for creative pursuits.  Some people have not taken the time to determine where their talents lie because they have spent all their time and energy pursuing either work or pleasure as defined by society, peers and advertizing.

We wish that more people would take the time to examine their lives, to examine their inner being and to determine where their innate talents lie, what their Life Purpose is and who they incarnated on Planet Earth to be.  This kind of self-examination requires some time and dedication to perform.  It also requires that one care about the results.  Many people today are locked in a flow that does not permit time or energy to ask the questions that need to be asked.

We are not talking about those people who are working many jobs just to obtain shelter and food and the necessities of life for their families, for they are doing the best they can.  But there are many others who, if awakened to possibilities, could do this self-examination and who would then have more self-empowerment and, ultimately, more life success.  Who are these people?  And are you one of them?  Every person can lead a conscious life by examining who they are and who they were born to be.

Self-examination is not the scary thing that some make it out to be.  This is not taking a test and worrying about failing.  Indeed, failing to do the self-examination we are talking about creates a limited life – why choose that?  The first question to ask is, ‘What is my Life Purpose?  Who did I come to Planet Earth to BE?’  Sometimes you might need help in pursuing these answers but asking the question is the first step.

Once you have an idea of your true Life Purpose you must then ask yourself where your talents lie, where your dreams are pointing.  No one comes to Earth with a Life Purpose of being unhappy.  Many find that unhappiness is a part of life for a specific time, but it is not your Purpose in being born.  If you are unhappy, could it be that you are not living your Life Purpose?  We are not talking about your job or your career, but the real essence of your being incarnate on Planet Earth in this moment.  Are your choices in Life consistent with realizing your Life Purpose?

Your job or career might be the vehicle that allows you to pursue your Life Purpose but we are asking you to examine your Life so that you can make a conscious choice about what you are doing and who you are being.  The cave people were busy searching for food and shelter but they did look at who was the best at which tasks and they made decisions based on those talents.  Think about your Life and whether or not you are utilizing your talents.  Be the creative person that every human being incarnates to be.  You don’t have to paint cave pictures, or pictures of any kind, but if your creative talents lie in problem solving, then make sure you are using those talents.  If your creative talents are in raising children, or teaching others, or writing or painting or sculpting or programming computers, then use those talents.  Even if, for the moment, the job you are engaged in is merely a means to pay your bills, don’t allow it to swallow up your Life and your energy and your time.  Create your Life.

Follow your talents, and, if appropriate, paint the walls with pictures that tell others about your Life.

And so it is.
