There are so many ways to experience reality and yet so often we are moving through our lives with blinders on. A popular saying is, ‘Believing is seeing.’ How true! If we don’t believe something we have trouble observing it.
Are you one of the people who has had an experience of orbs, the spheres of light that are appearing on many people’s digital pictures? They are a worldwide phenomenon that is enchanting those who chose not to dismiss or be afraid of them. Most believe orbs to be consciousness appearing from a dimension beyond our usual three dimensions. Who can say that this is not so? Our friend was seeing orbs on a hike with someone who was not seeing them and laughed at the concept. Laughed, that is, until he looked at the pictures he had taken on the hike and discovered that the orbs appeared in the last photo he had shot.
Do you have or know children who have imaginary friends? Many are comfortable as long as they focus on the ‘imaginary’ part of this, but can you truly say the child is not experiencing a presence that perhaps you cannot see?
And what of angels or fairies? Some can see these beings and others cannot. Does the fact that someone can’t see an angel mean that there are no angels? Of course not.
Yet how often do we discount even our own experience of something that we cannot explain? Too often, I think. Each of us has had the experience of knowing who is calling when the phone rings, even before looking at caller id. Since I don’t believe in coincidence, I accept the notion that we are somehow connected to that person and know the contact before we pick up the phone. Twins don’t even need the phone to communicate. You’ve probably had the experience of thinking of someone and then having that person contact you, even if you hadn’t been in contact for awhile. Coincidence? I don’t think so.
The next time you have an experience that tests your understanding of reality give yourself permission to let the experience be the definition of a new reality for you. Ask yourself what limiting beliefs are holding you back from accepting this new reality. You might find someone else’s reality is trying to overlay yours. Let it go! Accept that your reality is your reality and no one else gets to tell you that it is not.
This doesn’t just apply to orbs or angels or fairies. Think in terms of what you believe about yourself, what you think you deserve, what you believe you are capable of in life. You have the power to change your beliefs. You deserve to live your own life, free of the constraints of other people’s definitions of reality. You can do things beyond your former understanding if you stretch your beliefs about yourself.
Allow yourself to expand your understanding of reality for yourself and there are no limits to the life you can lead. If you are sensing reaction to this idea, then maybe it is time to work with someone to clear those limiting beliefs and experience a new expanded reality for yourself.
MUSE-INGS: Eat, Drink and Be Conscious
February 2, 2010 — RosemaryBut it seems we live in a crazy world where the food that goes into their bodies isn’t anywhere near as healthy as it should be. Breakfast foods that aren’t really food don’t prepare the children for a good day of learning at school. McDonald’s meals might not provide the healthiest balance of ingredients that they need. Many kids refuse to eat the foods that Mom & Dad know they should eat. What can a parent do?
Sometimes kids are kept out of the kitchen to be out of the way for their own safety. I used to worry when I heard that my little girl was peeling carrots in her Montessori classroom but she showed me at home, standing on a chair at the sink because she was so short, that she could safely handle a peeler and a carrot. She learned to cook standing on a chair by the stove, with me close by. Bring a child into the kitchen with you and teach her to use a recipe to prepare something delicious.
But it’s not just food, is it, that is harming our kids? We need to understand how complicated life is in this 21st Century. We’re all breathing air that is less than perfect for our bodies. We all have to drink water and we pay huge amounts to try to get healthier water that doesn’t have chlorine or fluoride or bacteria in it but that does have the minerals we need. I tried to get an ice cream cone in London from an American chain and was told they don’t carry Rocky Road because the ingredients are genetically-modified, not allowed to be imported there. How many food products are we eating that contain molecules of pesticide in them? And we don’t even know the answer because we have no way to find out.
So Conscious Living would require us to pay attention to what goes into our bodies and the bodies of the children in our lives. Do you know the source of the food you eat, the water you drink? Have you paid attention to the air quality in your area?
For some people this will spur them into political action to demand that their environment and what they take into their bodies is as healthy as they can get it. For some it will become a crusade to make sure that they and their family are careful about these things. I’m hoping that some will think about areas of the world where the people are desperate for anything to eat or drink and where help is needed in meeting the simplest of requirements for life.
We in the Western World have the luxury of examining the chemical content of our food while there are many on Earth who would love to have that concern. Let’s be careful about what we eat and drink and the air we breathe while we also do something about all those children who have nothing to eat, no clean water to drink. Maybe we can achieve a balance so that this wonderful Mother Earth can provide sustenance for all her children, healthy sustenance that keeps them all alive and healthy and thriving to advance humanity into evolved consciousness.
